# Search Engine Optimization (SEO) options in TeleportHQ

Here are all the tools at your disposal to optimize your TeleportHQ website for better results in search engines such as Google, Bing and more.

## 1. Page level meta data control

Setting up Metadata helps search engines understand your content and influences how your pages appear in search results. In TeleportHQ you can set up the meta data including meta title and meta description for each page as well as set up default meta data for the entire project.

To set up the meta data for each individual page:

* From the **Left panel -> Layers and Files tab -> Pages section**
* **Click on the ⋮ icon** on any page
* Click **Page SEO Settings**
* Set up the **Meta Title** and **Meta Description**

To set up the default meta data for the project: 

* From the **Left panel -> Layers and Files tab -> Pages section**
* **Click on the ⋮ icon** on any page
* Click **Global SEO Settings**
* Set up the **Meta Title** and **Meta Description**
* Click **Save changes**

## 2. Indexing controls

When enabling No Index on a page, it will be excluded from the sitemap and a noindex tag will be added to prevent search engines from indexing it.

To enable or disable No Index for each individual page:

* From the **Left panel -> Layers and Files tab -> Pages section**
* **Click on the ⋮ icon** on any page
* Click **Page SEO Settings**
* Check or uncheck the **No Index** switcher

## 3. Canonical URL management

Canonical URLs prevent duplicate content issues and help consolidate ranking signals toward the correct version of a page. In TeleportHQ you can set up the default page settings when it comes to canonical URL’s but you can also overwrite them at page level.

To define the project-level canonical URL behavior:
* From the **Left panel -> Layers and Files tab -> Pages section**
* **Click on the ⋮ icon** on any page
* Click **Global SEO Settings**
* Enable or disable the **Use Self Canonical URLs** from the switcher
* Click **Save changes**

When this option is enabled it means that all pages use self-canonical URLs by default. 

To override the default setup: 
* From the **Left panel -> Layers and Files tab -> Pages section**
* **Click on the ⋮ icon** on any page
* Click **Page SEO Settings**
* Enable or disable the **Custom Canonical** from the switcher and add a different URL as Canonical

## 4. Redirect options (301 and 302)

You can set page-level or global redirects to maintain clean URL structures. This can help you preserve link equity, and guide search engines effectively in case you want to migrate your website.

To set up a redirect at the page level:
* From the **Left panel -> Layers and Files tab -> Pages section**
* **Click on the ⋮ icon** on any page
* Click **Page SEO Settings**
* Enable the **Custom Redirect** from the switcher
* Select the** type of redirect** (301 or 302)
* Select a TeleportHQ **page or URL** to redirect to

To get an overview of all redirects on a project:
* From the **Left panel -> Layers and Files tab -> Pages section**
* **Click on the ⋮ icon** on any page
* Click **Global SEO Settings**
* Go to the **Global Redirects** section
* Here you can add or remove multiple redirects
* Click **Save changes**

## 5. Automated XML sitemap editor

When Automated XML Sitemap is enabled, the sitemap.xml file is automatically updated whenever pages are added or deleted.

To enable this option: 
* From the **Left panel -> Layers and Files tab -> Pages section**
* **Click on the ⋮ icon** on any page
* Click **Global SEO Settings**
* Check the **Automatically Generate Sitemap** switcher
* Click **Save changes**

## 6. Robots.txt editor

The robots.txt file lets you configure how search engines crawl your website. This file tells search engine crawlers which URLs they can access on your site.

To access and edit the robots.txt file for your TeleportHQ project:
* From the **Left panel -> Layers and Files tab -> Pages section**
* **Click on the ⋮ icon** on any page
* Click **Global SEO Settings**
* Go to the **Robots.txt section**
* **Edit **the file
* Click **Save changes**
