How to open the admin panel on your live site

In TeleportHQ, the admin panel of a published web app is at your site's address followed by /admin/dashboard, for example https://mybakery.teleporthq.app/admin/dashboard. The Publish window shows the link under Admin panel is included. Sign in with an account whose role is admin; other accounts can't open it.

Before you start

Steps

1. Create an admin account (if you don't have one)

  1. In the TeleportHQ editor, at the top right, click Publish.
  2. Under your published address, find the box Admin panel is included. It says "Only a user whose role is "admin" can sign in to it. Create one if you have not already."
  3. Click Create admin user. The Create New User window opens.
  4. Fill in Name, Email, Password and Confirm Password, for example owner@mybakery.com and a password of at least 8 characters.
  5. Keep Role as admin: the field starts with it.
  6. Click Create User. The Publish window comes back.

You can create the account before you publish, too: in the left sidebar, click Plugins, then the Authentication row. Under Users, next to Users of your site, click Manage users. The window opens on its Users tab: click Create New User. See How to manage your site's users and roles.

2. Open the admin panel

  1. In the Publish window, under Admin panel is included, click the link that ends in /admin/dashboard. It opens in a new tab. You can also click the copy button next to it and paste the link into your browser.
  2. On your site's sign-in page, sign in with the admin account.
  3. The admin dashboard opens.

Share the link with your team. Each person needs their own account with the admin role.

Check that it worked

You see the admin dashboard with its sidebar (for example MAIN, MANAGEMENT and CONTENT, plus COMMERCE for a store and BOOKINGS for a site that takes bookings), overview charts and the latest records. See What is the admin panel? for what each section holds.

Troubleshooting

I'm sent to the homepage, or back to the sign-in page, after signing in Your account doesn't have a role the admin panel lets in (by default admin). TeleportHQ sends such a user to the homepage. If your homepage redirects to a page that also refuses them, they land on the sign-in page instead, and its address ends in ?error=forbidden. Change the user's role to admin. See How to manage your site's users and roles.

"That email and password do not match an account." The email or password is wrong. Check them, or create a new admin user from the Publish window.

The /admin/dashboard address shows nothing The admin panel isn't published yet. Publish your site again after turning on the admin panel.

"Admin panel is included" doesn't show in the Publish window The admin panel isn't turned on for this project, or the site hasn't been published yet.

The Create admin user button is missing Authentication has no database to save users in. Check it in Plugins → Authentication in the left sidebar. See How to add sign-up and login to your site.

Good to know

  • The link uses the address you publish to: your TeleportHQ address, your custom domain, or your Vercel address.
  • Every page under /admin is protected as a group: visitors who aren't signed in are sent to the sign-in page, and signed-in users without an allowed role are sent away as described in Troubleshooting.
  • The admin panel lets in the roles set with Role Protection on the admin-panel folder in the Pages list. That's admin unless you change it. See How to make a page visible only to signed-in users.
