Which pages does Bookings add, and what do customers do on them?

TeleportHQ Bookings adds four pages to your site, in a bookings folder of the Pages list: book-online lists everything that can be booked (/book), book-online-item gives each item its own page with a live calendar and the booking form (/book/<item>), booking-details shows one customer their own booking, and my-bookings lists a signed-in customer's bookings (/my-bookings). The customer's account page also gets a Bookings tab. On these pages, customers pick a date, book, pay, add the booking to their calendar or cancel it.

The TeleportHQ booking pages and their addresses

To see them in the editor, click Pages, Components & Tree View in the left sidebar, then open the bookings folder.

A signed-in customer also finds their bookings on their account page (my-profile), in a Bookings tab ("See what is coming up, pay for or cancel a booking."), and in the account menu under My Bookings.

How a customer books on a TeleportHQ booking site

  1. They click Book online in your navigation or footer, and the book-online page opens.
  2. They pick an item and click Check availability. The item's page opens.
  3. They choose when. For an item booked by time: Choose a date, then Choose a time. For one booked by night: Choose your dates, a Check-in and a Check-out day. For one booked by day: a First day and a Last day. Days with nothing free show as Unavailable, and times are shown in your business's timezone.
  4. They set Guests, when the item takes more than one person, and make Your choices, such as a room with a sea view or breakfast as an extra, when the item has them. The Your booking summary shows the total.
  5. Under Your details, they fill in Full name, Email, Phone and Notes. Add invoice details lets them have the invoice made out to a company.
  6. If you let customers choose how to pay, they pick Pay online now or Pay on arrival under How would you like to pay?.
  7. They click Book now, or Continue to payment to pay on the payment provider's page right after. If you approve each booking, the form says "The business confirms each booking. You will get an email."
  8. Their booking page opens, and the confirmation email is on its way.

What customers see on their TeleportHQ booking page

The booking-details page shows one booking:

  • the Booking reference (BK- followed by ten letters and digits), When, Option, Extras, Guests, Where, Total and Payment;
  • a line about its status, for example "We have your request. The business will confirm it by email." while you haven't accepted it yet;
  • Pay now, while a booking paid online is waiting for its payment;
  • Add to Google Calendar and Download calendar file;
  • Cancel booking, while your Online Cancellation rule allows it ("You can cancel online until …"). The customer confirms in Cancel this booking? with an optional Reason, then Yes, cancel it (or Keep my booking). The time is given back and they get a confirmation by email.

Every booking email links to this page, so customers reach it without signing in. A wrong or old link shows "We could not find this booking" and "Please check the link in your email."

My bookings and the account tab

The my-bookings page and the account page's Bookings tab need sign-in, and each customer sees only their own bookings. A customer who has none sees "Nothing booked yet" and Book now. View booking opens a booking's own page.

Customers don't need an account to book while Guest Bookings is on, which it is at first. With it off, the form says "Please sign in to book." See What can I change in Booking Settings?.

Good to know

  • In the visitor's language. On a multi-language site, item names, descriptions, locations and categories show in the visitor's language when they're translated. The page texts are ordinary texts, translated like any other. See How to translate your bookable items.
  • Search engines. Each item's page has its own address, and its search title and description are the item's name and description. A customer's booking page is never listed in your sitemap.
  • You design these pages like any page. Every word on them is a text you can edit on the canvas. See How to design your booking pages.
  • Renaming a page is safe. Bookings finds its pages by their role, not their name, so a new name changes no link.
  • The emails customers get are described in Which emails does Bookings send, and how do I set them up?.
