How to create a booking site with AI or a template
To create a booking site in TeleportHQ, click + New Project on your dashboard and choose the Bookings card ("Rooms, appointments, tables, classes or rentals — booked online"). Then describe your business in Describe your business, and TeleportHQ's AI builds the whole site with Bookings already on: the pages, your first bookable items, your booking rules and your opening hours. When booking templates are offered, you can start from one of those instead.
Before you start
- A booking site is a web app. The choice is permanent, its code can't be downloaded, and it publishes from TeleportHQ. See What's the difference between a website and a web app?.
- It needs a Web App slot. Under the cards, TeleportHQ may say "Web Apps, e-commerce stores and booking sites: Runs for 7 days, then needs a web app slot." See Why does my web app need a slot, and what is the 7-day window?.
- Generating with AI uses AI tokens, and a web app needs a larger balance than a website. See How to create a new project.
- Already have a site? Add bookings to it instead. See How to add bookings to an existing project.
Steps
1. Choose the Bookings card
- On your dashboard, click + New Project at the top right.
- In the Create Project panel, click Bookings. To read what a booking site includes first, point at the i in the card's corner.
- If TeleportHQ offers booking templates, a Bookings panel opens with Generate with AI ("Describe your business and let AI build its pages, bookable items and calendar") and, below it, Or continue with a template. Click Generate with AI, or pick a template. See How to start a project from a template. When there are no booking templates, the Bookings card starts generating with AI straight away.
2. Describe your business
The new project opens in the AI setup steps, on Describe your business. Write what your customers book, how they book it and what it costs. Say:
- what is booked: rooms, treatments, tables, classes, cars;
- how it's booked: by the night, by the day, or at a start time and for how long;
- how many you have, and how many guests each takes;
- the price, and any extras, such as breakfast or parking;
- your rules: paying online or on arrival, confirming each request yourself, cancelling up to a number of hours before, and your opening hours.
For example:
A small hotel by the harbour with eight double rooms and two suites, booked by the night, with breakfast as an extra. Guests pay online when they book and can cancel for free up to 48 hours before arrival.- Or, under "or start from one of the predefined descriptions below", click one of the examples. They're grouped as Stays, Beauty & Wellness, Health & Care, Fitness & Classes, Food & Drink, Tours & Experiences, Rentals, Spaces & Venues and Lessons & Services, for example Boutique Hotel or Hair Salon. Edit the text so it matches your business.
- Click Next, then follow the rest of the AI setup steps, as for any web app. See How to generate an online store or web app with AI.
What the TeleportHQ AI sets up for your booking site
From your description, and before your pages are generated, TeleportHQ switches Bookings on with:
- How new items are booked (by time, by night or by day) and the currency of your prices.
- Your first bookable items, with their names, descriptions and prices, and their variants and extras when you describe them.
- Your booking rules: whether you approve each booking, how customers pay, whether a phone number is required, online cancellation and how many hours before it closes, how soon and how far ahead customers can book, the step between start times, and check-in and check-out times.
- Your opening hours, when your items are booked by time.
Customers can always book without an account at first. If the AI can't read a setup from your description, Bookings starts with its defaults and two sample items.
The generated pages then link to the booking pages. Change any of it later: the items in the Bookings panel and the rules in Booking Settings. See How to add a bookable item and What can I change in Booking Settings?.
Check that it worked
When the generation is done, the project opens in the editor. The left sidebar has a Bookings button, and the Pages list has a bookings folder with the booking pages. On your dashboard, the project's card shows a Bookings badge. Publish the site to take bookings. See How to publish a web app.
Troubleshooting
A message says a web app needs more AI tokens to generate Generating a web app needs a larger AI token balance than a website. Add tokens, or start from a booking template if one is offered. See How to create a new project.
The site was built, but the items aren't the ones you described The AI writes your first items from the description alone. Edit, add or delete items in the Bookings panel. See How to add a bookable item.
Good to know
- A booking site starts with bookings only. Even when your description mentions products you sell, the AI doesn't switch a store on or add products. To sell too, turn on E-commerce from Plugins. See How to add a store to an existing project.
- Other AI projects can take bookings too. When you generate a web app or an online store with AI and your description says customers book online, TeleportHQ switches Bookings on the same way. A Presentation Website never gets Bookings this way.
- The project is created as soon as you pick an option. If you leave the AI setup steps, the project still exists.
- The dashboard's Online bookings filter lists every project with Bookings on: click Filter, then tick Online bookings under Has.
