How to publish your site
In TeleportHQ, you publish from the editor: click Publish at the top right, keep Production selected, and click Publish to Production. A progress bar beside the button shows each step, and after a few minutes your site is live on a TeleportHQ address such as https://sunny-bakery.teleporthq.app. Publishing isn't automatic: publish again every time you want visitors to see your latest changes. On the trial, the published site asks visitors for a password, which you can remove only after the workspace subscribes.
Before you start
- Plan. Publishing a website needs a Trial, Pro or Premium workspace. If the trial or subscription has ended, clicking Publish opens an upgrade window first. Web apps follow their own rules: see How to publish a web app.
- Role. You need the Owner, Admin or Designer role. See What can each role do?.
- Wait for AI to finish. If AI is still building your project, wait until it's done.
Steps
- Open your project in the editor.
- At the top right, click Publish. The Publish window opens on the Publish tab.
- In the window's left menu, make sure Publish is selected (not Deployments).
- At the top, make sure Production is selected. Production is your live site, the address your visitors and your custom domain use.
- Right below Production, check the address your site will get. To choose a nicer name first, see How to change your free TeleportHQ web address.
- At the bottom of the window, click Publish to Production.
- Watch the progress bar at the bottom of the window, to the left of the button. It names the step TeleportHQ is on, with the time that step has taken so far: Generating the code, Uploading files and starting the build, Waiting for a build machine, then Building your site. You can close the window and keep working: "You can keep working; we will let you know when it is done."
Check that it worked
A message appears: "Your application is ready at: https://sunny-bakery.teleporthq.app". In the Publish window, the status next to the address changes from Publish in progress to Published. Point at Published to see "Last published: …".
Click the address to open your live site in a new tab, or use the copy button next to it to share the link. On the trial, the site asks for its password: copy it from the Password Protection option further down.
Further down, below Custom domain and the Password Protection and Installable app options, a line After publishing: now tells you whether visitors would run into anything, such as broken links or empty pages. See What should I check after publishing my site?.
Publish your changes later
TeleportHQ doesn't publish your edits by itself. When you edit the project after publishing, the Publish window shows the badge Unpublished changes ("You have edited this project since it was last published to production."). Click Publish to Production again to update the live site.
Take your site offline
To stop serving your TeleportHQ site without deleting the project, open the Publish window on Production. At the bottom left of the window, click Unpublish site, then confirm in the Unpublish your site window. Publishing again brings the site back. See How to take your site offline (Unpublish).
Troubleshooting
"Your current role does not have enough permissions to publish this project" Ask the workspace owner or an admin to publish, or to change your role.
"Your project is still generating. Please wait for it to finish before publishing." Wait until AI finishes building the project, then click Publish again.
"Resolve the critical security violations before publishing." A workflow has a serious security problem. Fix the warnings in the window that opens. See Why does my workflow show missing configuration or security warnings?.
"Your project is building on Vercel. This can take a few minutes for larger projects — we will let you know as soon as it is live." This isn't an error. Large sites take longer, and the progress bar stays on Building your site. If you later see "Your project is still building on Vercel. It will go live on its own — check the Deployments tab in a few minutes.", check the Deployments tab later.
"The deployment failed while building on Vercel." The message goes on with From the build log: and the log lines that say what broke, sometimes with a Likely cause: before them, and ends with "Open the Deployments tab → Build Logs for the full log." See How to read build logs when publishing fails.
"Publishing failed. The site could not be password-protected, so this publish was discarded. Try again or contact support." Your workspace has no paid subscription, and TeleportHQ couldn't put the password on the site, so nothing from this publish went live. Publish again in a moment. See Why does my published site ask for a password?.
Other messages that block publishing (too many forms, expired language subscriptions, not enough language slots, a web app over quota, "An error occurred while publishing your application") See Publishing failed: what should I do?.
Good to know
- Your TeleportHQ address. Sites on Pro and Premium are published on
teleporthq.site. Trial sites are published onteleporthq.app. During a trial, the Publish window may show.teleporthq.siteafter your site's name, but your live trial site is at the address ending in.teleporthq.app. The link in the "Your application is ready at:" message, the clickable address and its copy button always give you the real one. After the workspace subscribes, your next publish moves the site to.teleporthq.site, so links you shared during the trial change. - Hidden from search engines. If Show this site in search engines is off in Project settings → SEO & social → Search engines, the Publish window says "Hidden from search engines. Every address of this site asks them not to list it; change it in Project Settings › SEO." It applies from your next publish. See How to hide a page from Google, set a canonical URL or redirect a page.
- A password on the trial. In a workspace without a paid subscription, such as a trial workspace, every publish puts your site behind a password: copy it from the Password Protection option and share it with the people who should see the site. On Pro and Premium, your site is public unless you add a password. See How to password-protect your site.
- Watermark. While a workspace is on the trial, the published site shows a TeleportHQ watermark. Pro and Premium sites have none.
- Terms & Conditions. If your project has a Terms & Conditions page, TeleportHQ may add a disclosure about the services your site uses when you publish. You then see "Your Terms & Conditions page was updated with the third-party services disclosure." This is expected.
- Pages that failed to generate are left out: "1 page that failed to generate was excluded from the published site."
- Schema markup is brought up to date first. Schema markup is the description of a page that search engines read. Before each publish, TeleportHQ rewrites the AI-written schema markup (a page's Page settings → Schema markup) of every page whose content changed since, which uses AI tokens: "Updating out-of-date schema markup on 2 pages…". It's skipped while your workspace has fewer than 500 tokens, and it never stops the publish. Schema markup you edited by hand is never replaced: a message names those pages so you can review them. To turn this off, switch off Keep Schema Markup Up To Date in Project settings → SEO & social → Search engines. See How to add schema markup (structured data) to your pages.
- Installable app. The Publish window also has an Installable app option, folded under its title with On or Off, to let visitors add your site to their home screen. See How to make your site installable as an app (PWA).
- Older projects (created before May 2026, and not web apps) show a Web / Vercel switch at the top of the Publish tab. Keep Web selected to publish on TeleportHQ. See How to publish with your own Vercel account.
- When a trial or subscription ends, TeleportHQ takes the site offline. See What happens when my trial or subscription ends?.
