Can I download my site's code?
Yes, if your TeleportHQ workspace is on a paid plan (Pro or Premium) and your project is a website. You can then download it as HTML, React, Next, Vue, Nuxt or Angular code, or export it to GitHub. A trial lets you look at the code but not download it, and web apps can't be downloaded as code at all.
Who can download code
TeleportHQ code download depends on three things: your workspace's plan, the type of project, and your role.
By plan
| Plan | View code in the Code tab | Download a ZIP or export to GitHub |
|---|---|---|
| Trial | Yes, 10 code views | No |
| Pro | Unlimited | Yes |
| Premium | Unlimited | Yes |
| Trial or subscription ended | No | No |
- Trial: each time you click View code in the Code tab, one of your 10 code views is used. The 10 views are shared by the whole workspace and don't reset during the trial. If the project didn't fully generate, viewing the partial result isn't counted.
- Downloads on a trial: the Download tab shows "Code downloads aren't included in your plan. Subscribe to a paid plan to export your project in HTML, CSS, Next.js, React, Vue or Angular." The Download ZIP, Download File and Export to GitHub buttons are greyed out, with the tooltip "Code downloads aren't included in your plan. Subscribe to unlock." The command palette's Export as … project commands and Continue on Github follow the same rule.
- Pro and Premium: unlimited views and downloads for website projects.
- Plan details: What's the difference between Trial, Pro and Premium? and the pricing page.
By project type
| Project | What you can download |
|---|---|
| Website | React, Next, Vue, Nuxt, Angular or HTML code, or the project file |
| Website connected to a headless CMS or a data source | Next code or the project file |
| Website with several languages | Next or HTML code (an HTML download holds one language), or the project file |
| Web app | Nothing: web apps have no Code button and no Download tab |
The project file is the last card in the Download tab. Its button reads Download File and saves one .json file that describes your project for TeleportHQ's open-source code generators. It isn't a website you can run or upload to a host.
By role
Owners, Admins and Designers can view and download code. Editors, Viewers and Limited Viewers can't; they see "Your current role does not have enough permissions to view or download the generated code". See What can each role do?
What works in each download
Every TeleportHQ code download carries your pages, components, styles, images, fonts and the code from Project settings → Custom code. Some features play only in some formats. When your project uses one of them, the Download tab says so above the format cards.
| Feature | Next | HTML | React, Vue, Nuxt, Angular |
|---|---|---|---|
| Elements that show or hide when a visitor clicks, such as tabs, a phone menu or a pop-up window | Works | Works | Works |
| Motion elements, scroll scenes and page transitions | Plays | Plays | Same content, no animation |
| Browser widgets: Calendar, Countdown, Kanban Board, QR Code, Barcode, Signature Pad, Color Picker, Emoji Picker, File Upload Field, Drag Area, Sortable List, Cookie Consent and the language switcher | Works | Empty or without its behaviour | Empty or without its behaviour |
| Charts | Works | Not included | Works in React; not included in Vue, Nuxt or Angular |

Web apps and code download
A TeleportHQ web app runs live features on TeleportHQ's servers, such as user sign-in, workflows, an online store, online bookings, a blog or help center, an admin panel or an AI chatbot. That's why a web app can't be downloaded as working code. Web app projects don't show the Code button, and their command palette doesn't list the Export as … commands. You can still publish a web app from TeleportHQ.
Before a website becomes a web app, TeleportHQ opens the Enable Web App features? window. Its first warning reads: "Code download will no longer be available."
These don't make a project a web app, so a website that uses them keeps its code download:
- showing or hiding elements, states inside a page or component, tabs, pop-up windows (modals) and collapsible text;
- the browser widgets listed in the table above;
- connecting a data source, the TeleportHQ database included. A connected data source limits the download to Next and the project file.
If you may need the code later, keep the project as a website. On the dashboard, the Presentation Website card of the new-project window creates one: "Presents your business — no accounts, store or bookings; code you can download". The E-commerce, Web App and Bookings cards create web apps. To make a web app a website again, restore the backup Before Web App features Enabled. See What's the difference between a website and a web app?
What you get in a download
- A ZIP file with the full project in the format you chose, named after your project and the format.
- For HTML: options to make components standalone, skip component files, or pick one language. See How to download your site as code.
- Secrets from Project settings → Data & code → Secrets appear in the code by name only, never with their value. Set the values on the host where you run the code.
Downloaded code is yours to host anywhere. Two TeleportHQ services only accept traffic from your TeleportHQ address and the custom domain connected in TeleportHQ: forms and the built-in visitor analytics. On a copy you host yourself, form submissions are refused with "Domain not allowed" and visits aren't counted. See Why is my form not working?
What happens when a paid plan ends
When a trial or subscription ends, code views and downloads stop. Download any code you need while the plan is active. See What happens when my trial or subscription ends?
