How to change editor preferences (Editing, View and Advanced features)
In the TeleportHQ editor, your editor preferences are in Project settings → Editor → Preferences: click the Project settings cog at the bottom of the left sidebar, then Preferences. Pick Editing for how the editor behaves while you work, View for what it shows, or Advanced features for optional behaviours of the project's editor and export. Each switch saves as you flip it. The Editing and View switches are also under Edit and View in the Project Menu.
Before you start
- Editing and View are your own preferences. They change the editor for you in this project, not for your collaborators. The Left sidebar switches are saved to your account and apply in every project.
- Advanced features change the project itself, for everyone. See How to turn on Advanced Features.
Steps
- In the TeleportHQ editor, at the bottom of the left sidebar, click the Project settings cog.
- In the Project settings panel, under Editor, click Preferences. The drawer lists Editing, View and Advanced features.
- Click Editing or View. Its switches open in a second column, grouped under headings.
- Click a switch to turn it on or off. The change applies and saves at once. There's no Save button.
The three parts of the TeleportHQ Preferences drawer are:
- Editing: "How the editor behaves while you work."
- View: "What the editor shows."
- Advanced features: "Optional behaviours for this project's editor and export."
The Editing switches
The TeleportHQ Editing preferences are grouped like this:
- Components: Create props when adding text or images in components, Duplicate props when duplicating an element and Create simple string props for texts.
- Content:
- Media query updates in the rich text editor: changes made while a breakpoint is selected apply to that breakpoint only.
- Apply foreground colour to icons: icons take the text color of their parent.
- Translate text elements automatically: new text is translated into the project's other languages as you add it. See How to translate your site automatically.
- Check spelling while editing text on the canvas: underlines misspelled words while you type.
- Links: Open in new tab checked by default, Create navigation links for new pages, Create footer links for new pages and Remove links when a page is deleted. When you delete a page from the Pages list and other elements link to it, TeleportHQ asks what happens to them; this last switch picks the answer it offers first. See How to rename, duplicate or delete a page.
- Export and AI:
- Export unused classes: keeps classes no element uses in the exported code. Off by default.
- Show proposed plugins: folders in the Pages tree for the plugins your project doesn't have yet, each with an Activate button. Off by default. "The Plugins tab lists them too."
- Show proposed pages: pages the AI planned but hasn't built yet. See How to build the rest of your planned pages later.
The View switches
The TeleportHQ View preferences are grouped like this:
- Left sidebar: one switch per button of the left sidebar, in its default order: the workspace tabs (Elements, Pages, Components & Tree View, Data Sources, Workflows, Assets Manager), then the buttons of the plugins you use (E-commerce, Blog, Help Center, Bookings, AI assistant chat), then Plugins and Growth. Each has a line saying what it holds, for example Growth: "Marketing, analytics, SEO and form submissions, and the records of the store and bookings." Turn a switch off to hide that button. Elements and Plugins are always shown. A plugin's button shows only while that plugin is on. See How to reorder the tabs in the left sidebar.
- Workspace: Comments (the comments panel on the right) and Toolbar (the toolbar at the bottom of the canvas).
- Canvas: Keep zoom level, Keep viewport size, Grayscale structure mode (Ctrl + Shift + S) and Show media query guide lines. See How to see your page structure (Grayscale Structure Mode).
- Layers: CSS classes in the tree view and HTML element tags in the tree view.
- Selection: Highlight element margin and padding (Ctrl + Shift + H), Highlight the parent when selecting an element, Show the parent component label inside component instances and Show the "add section below" button.
- Inspector and design language: Component properties section expanded by default and Show colour tokens as a list.
From the Project Menu
The TeleportHQ Project Menu (the logo at the top left) has Edit and View, with the same switches in the same words. Use whichever is closer. At its end, Edit also has Enable Plugins… ("Pick plugins to enable in this project. The plugins they rely on are enabled with them."), which opens the Choose your plugins window, and Tailor project to my business…. See How to turn features on or off (Plugins). Edit shows only to people whose role can change project settings. See Where did the Edit, View and Advanced Features menus go?.
Troubleshooting
A switch is greyed out and won't move In View → Left sidebar, Elements and Plugins can't be hidden.
The toolbar at the bottom of the editor is gone In View, under Workspace, turn Toolbar back on.
A left-sidebar icon disappeared In View, under Left sidebar, turn its switch back on. A plugin's button, such as Blog or Bookings, can also be hidden from that plugin's drawer in Plugins with Show in the left sidebar, "The same switch as Preferences → View → Left sidebar." Plugin buttons also show only while the plugin is switched on. See How to turn features on or off (Plugins).
I don't see Edit in the Project Menu Your role can't change project settings, so only View shows. Ask the project owner or an admin.
