Which files can I upload, and how big can they be?

TeleportHQ accepts images, videos, documents, audio, 3D models, fonts and text files in the Assets Manager. On a trial or Pro plan, each file can be up to 10 MB and each project can store 1 GB. On Premium, each file can be up to 30 MB and each project can store 3 GB. Uploading videos and 3D models needs a trial or paid plan.

Supported file types

Imagesgif, jpg, jpeg, png, svg, webp, ico
Videosmp4, m4v, movTrial or paid plan needed
Documentspdf, doc, docx, xls, xlsx, ppt, pptx, zipCan't be placed on the canvas; link to them

Other formats, such as .heic, .avi, .psd or .gltf, aren't supported. Convert them first, for example .heic to .jpg.

TeleportHQ checks each file's content. A file whose name says one type but whose content is another is rejected or corrected, and json, yaml and css files must be valid.

Storage and size limits per plan

These TeleportHQ limits apply per project:

PlanStorage per projectLargest fileNumber of files
Trial and Pro (also older and special plans)1 GB10 MB2,000
Premium3 GB30 MB6,000
Free (older accounts only)5 MB2 MB200
Expired planNo uploads

For current plans and prices, see teleporthq.io/pricing and What's the difference between Trial, Pro and Premium?.

Special cases:

  • 3D models (.glb) you upload can be up to 30 MB on any trial or paid plan.
  • Stock 3D models from the 3D tab can be up to 200 MB, as long as they fit in your project's storage.
  • Stock photos, videos, sprites and sounds are linked from the provider and don't use storage.
  • AI-generated images are saved in your project and count toward storage.

To see how big each file is, open Uploads: the size shows under each file's name. Sort files by: size at the bottom of the tab puts the largest first.

Heavy files: a warning, not a limit

A file can fit your plan's limit and still be heavy for a web page: every visitor downloads it. TeleportHQ flags these files after you upload them, shows their size in orange (heavy) or red (very heavy) in Uploads, and lists the ones the open page uses at the top of Uploads. The upload still works.

Documents and text files are never flagged. To find and fix heavy files, see How to find files that slow down your page.

What the limit messages mean

"Upload failed. The maximum file size is 10MB" The file is bigger than your plan allows. Make it smaller (for example, compress a photo or shorten a video) and upload it again. On Premium, the message still says 10MB, but the real limit is 30 MB.

"Upgrade your workspace to a paid plan" with "The maximum file size is 2 MB on Free plan" This window only shows on an older Free workspace, when a file is bigger than 2 MB. Make the file smaller, or click Upgrade Now. Trial and paid workspaces see the "Upload failed" message above instead.

"The maximum assets size has been reached for this project: 1.024GB" (3.072GB on Premium) The project's storage (1 GB, or 3 GB on Premium) is full. Delete files you don't use, then try again. See How to rename or delete files (and remove unused ones).

"You reached the maximum size of upload files. Please remove any unused asset before uploading a new one." Either the project's storage is full or it has reached the maximum number of files. Delete unused files, then try again.

"Could not create asset(s). The maximum number of assets has been reached for this project: 2000" The project has the maximum number of files for your plan. Delete files you don't use.

"Upload limit exceeded" This window only shows on workspaces that aren't on a trial or paid plan, when the upload would go over the project's storage. It mentions "Free accounts". Delete unused files, or click Upgrade now.

"Cannot upload video files" Video uploads need a trial or paid plan. Click Upgrade now, or use a free video from Pexels in the Stock tab. See How to use free stock photos and videos (Unsplash, Pexels).

An upgrade window with no title when you upload a .glb file Uploading your own .glb file needs a trial or paid plan, and on a workspace without one the upgrade window shows no title. You can still add free models from the 3D tab.

"Assets upload failed. The free space limit was reached." The project's storage is full. Delete unused files.

"Assets upload failed due to server connection. Please refresh or try again with fewer files." Refresh the editor and upload fewer files at a time.

How to upload images, videos and files

To upload files in TeleportHQ, open the Assets Manager's Uploads tab and click + → Upload Assets on the Public folder, or drag files from your computer onto the editor; they appear in the folder, ready to add to your pages, and TeleportHQ warns you when a file is heavy for a web page.

What is the Assets Manager?

The Assets Manager is the TeleportHQ editor panel (left sidebar, Ctrl/Cmd+4) where you upload, organize and check your project's images, videos, documents, audio and 3D files, and pick free stock photos, videos, 3D models, sounds and icons, in the tabs Uploads, Stock, 3D, Audio and Icons.

How to find files that slow down your page

In TeleportHQ, open the Assets Manager's Uploads tab; when the page you're editing uses files that are heavy for a web page, a line such as "1 heavy file on this page" shows at the top, and clicking it lists each file with its size, the reason it slows the page and a link to its folder.

How to rename or delete files (and remove unused ones)

In the TeleportHQ Assets Manager, double-click a file name to rename it, or right-click the file and choose Delete; to free storage in one go, open the command palette and run Delete all unused assets. Deleting a file that's in use replaces it with a placeholder and can't be undone.

What's the difference between Trial, Pro and Premium?

TeleportHQ has three plans. Trial is a free 7-day test of the whole product on 1 project, Pro is a paid plan for unlimited websites with private projects, a custom domain and code download, and Premium adds one included web app, more AI tokens, more storage and unlimited forms.

In the TeleportHQ Assets Manager, open the Stock tab, choose Unsplash or Pexels, search for a subject such as "bread", and drag a photo or video onto your page; stock media is free and doesn't use your project's storage.
