How to make a scroll video with AI

How to make a scroll video with AI

In TeleportHQ, you can have AI make the clip for a Scroll Video. Select the video, click Make one with AI on its card (or ✦ in its Source row), describe the clip, choose 4s, 6s or 8s, and click Generate video. A clip costs about 2,250 AI tokens per second and usually takes about a minute. Extend clip makes it longer later. The clip is made in the background, so it reaches your project even if you reload the editor meanwhile.

Before you start

Make a clip

1. Open the Generate with AI window

  1. On the canvas, find your Scroll Video. If it has no clip yet, its card shows Make one with AI. Click it.

  1. If the video already has a clip, select it instead. Then, in the right panel's Scroll Video section, click ✦ (Generate a clip with AI) at the right end of the Source row.

The Generate with AI window opens on the AI Generation tab. If you want the clip to start from a picture, click Add an image to animate (optional) and choose a picture of up to 4 MB. Without one, the clip is made from your description only.

2. Describe and generate the clip

The TeleportHQ Generate with AI window for a scroll video, with 1 Describe the video, 2 Clip length, 3 the token cost and 4 Generate video numbered
  1. In Describe the video, write what the camera sees and how it moves. For example: Slow camera glide along a bakery counter full of fresh loaves, warm morning light.
  2. Under Clip length, choose 4s, 6s or 8s.
  3. Check the cost line, for example Generates a ~4s video · ≈9,000 tokens, and Your balance under it.
  4. Click Generate video. It usually takes 30 to 60 seconds. You can close the window: the clip is added to your project when it's ready.

When the preview shows "Saved to your assets library.", click Replace this video. The clip becomes the Scroll Video's clip. A cover reads Optimizing clip for scrolling… while TeleportHQ prepares it, which can take another minute or more.

Make a clip longer (Extend clip)

Extend clip continues your clip with AI from its last frame, then joins the two parts into one clip.

  1. Select the Scroll Video. In the right panel's Scroll Video section, next to Extend clip, click Extend…. The Extend clip window shows the clip's last frame.
  2. Optional: in What happens next, describe how the shot continues, for example The camera keeps moving toward the oven, then rises to the window. Leave it empty to keep the same motion.
  3. Under Adds, choose how many seconds to add: 4s, 6s or 8s. The window shows the total length and the cost, for example Adds ~8s of clip · ≈18,000 tokens.
  4. Click Extend clip. The window closes, and you can keep editing.

It takes a few minutes. The Extend clip row and a cover on the video show each step, such as "Generating the next 8 seconds — this takes a few minutes…" and "Joining the two parts…". When it's done, a message says, for example, "Clip extended to 16 seconds — optimizing it for scrolling". If the scene's length was still set by TeleportHQ, the scene grows so the story keeps its pace, and the message says so.

A scroll clip can grow up to 40 seconds. In a scene with five or more chapters, it can be 10 seconds per chapter.

Ask the AI Assistant for a scroll video

You can also ask the TeleportHQ AI Assistant, for example: Add a scroll video to the hero scroll story: a slow walk through a bakery at sunrise.

  • It shows a Confirm scroll video card with the cost before it starts, unless you let generations start without asking. You can edit the prompt on the card, then click Generate. See How to choose what the AI Assistant may do without asking.
  • For a journey, ask for a clip in shots, one per place (for example, one shot per room). A clip in shots has 2 to 12 shots, is made shot by shot (about two minutes per shot), and the scene's chapters are timed to follow the shots.
  • To make a clip longer, ask: Extend the hero scroll video by 8 seconds. It shows a Confirm clip extension card; click Extend to start.

A clip the AI Assistant makes becomes the scene's background video.

If you reload or close the editor

Every AI clip is made on TeleportHQ's servers. If you reload, close the tab or go offline before a clip is ready, it isn't lost. The next time the project is opened in the editor, TeleportHQ delivers it:

  • a clip from the Generate with AI window goes to your Assets Manager ("The AI clip you asked for earlier is ready: it is in your assets."). Pick it for your Scroll Video with Choose or upload a video;
  • a clip from the AI Assistant becomes the scene's background video;
  • an Extend clip part is joined onto the clip.

The message stays until you close it.

Check that it worked

On the canvas, select the Scroll Video and drag Editing position or click ▶ in the Scroll Video section: the clip moves through its frames. AI clips are also saved in the ai-generated folder of the Assets Manager. To see it with real scrolling, click Preview in the bottom toolbar.

Troubleshooting

"You don't have enough tokens to generate a video." or "You don't have enough tokens to extend the clip." Click Buy tokens, or choose a shorter length. See How to buy more AI tokens.

"The clip is taking longer than usual. It is added to your project when it is ready." Keep working. The clip arrives on its own when it's done.

"Failed to generate video. Please try again." or "There was a problem while generating your video. Please try again." Try again, or simplify the description. A clip that wasn't made isn't charged. When a clip in shots stops partway, the shots already made are charged, and the clip made so far is saved to your project's files.

"This clip is already 40 seconds long — the longest its scene can pace." The clip can't grow any more in this scene. Add chapters to the scene to give a longer clip room, or use a second Scroll Scene for the next part.

"The two parts could not be joined. The new part is in your assets." The new part was made but not joined. You find it in the Assets Manager.

"Pick a clip first — there is nothing to extend yet." The video has no clip. Make one first, as described in "Make a clip".

Good to know

  • You're never charged more than the cost shown before you start.
  • For a free clip without AI, use the Stock Videos tab of the same window.
  • The same window and clip lengths are used for other AI videos in TeleportHQ. See How to generate videos and 3D models with AI.
