How to check your site's SEO health

A TeleportHQ Site Health audit tests your published site with Google PageSpeed and TeleportHQ's own SEO checks. In the editor, open Growth, click SEO & Performance, and on the Site Health tab click Run audit. After about a minute the Audit report opens with four scores from 0 to 100 (Performance, SEO, Accessibility and Best practices) and a list of issues explained in plain language.

Before you start

  • Plan. Site Health audits are part of Growth, which comes with the Trial, Pro and Premium plans. When a trial or subscription has ended, SEO & Performance shows Growth is a paid feature with an Upgrade button. See What's in the Growth tab?.
  • Role. You need the Owner, Admin or Designer role. See What can each role do?.
  • A published site. The audit tests your live site. Until the project is published, SEO & Performance shows Publish your site first with a Publish project button. See How to publish your site.
  • No password. Audits can't run on a password-protected site. On the TeleportHQ trial, every publish puts your site behind a password, so Site Health audits work once the workspace subscribes and you remove the password. See How to password-protect your site.
  • Limits. You can run 5 audits per day per project, and one audit per published version: after an audit, publish again before you run the next one. The audit itself uses no AI tokens. The short What this means summary in the report uses a small amount.

Run an audit

  1. In the left sidebar, click Growth. The first time, a Welcome to Growth! window offers a tour: click Show Me to take it, or Maybe Later.
  2. In the Growth panel, click SEO & Performance.
  3. In the list on the left, click Site Health (it's selected when the panel opens).
The TeleportHQ Growth panel with SEO & Performance highlighted, and the Site Health tab highlighted in the list beside it
  1. Check the bar at the top. It shows your live address and how many audits you have left, for example "You can run 5 audits per day per project — 5 of 5 left today."
  2. Click Run audit. The button changes to Auditing…, and Audit history shows "Auditing your site…".

  1. Wait about a minute. You can open another tab of SEO & Performance in the meantime: the audit keeps running, and a small spinner shows next to Site Health.
  2. When the audit finishes, the Audit report opens on the right.

Read the report

The top of the TeleportHQ Audit report shows the date and the address that was tested, then:

  1. Desktop and Mobile: which device the scores are for. Desktop shows first. Mobile scores are usually lower, because Google tests on a slow phone with a slow connection.
  2. The four scores: Performance (how fast the page loads), SEO (how easily search engines can find it), Accessibility (how usable it is for everyone) and Best practices. Green is 90 or more, orange is 50 to 89, red is under 50.
  3. JSON and CSV: download the report. In the file, each issue is marked Critical, Warning or Suggestion.

Below the scores, What this means gives a short summary written by AI, with the few things that matter most. Then Issues found lists every problem:

  1. The filter buttons: All, then one button per group (Performance, SEO, Accessibility, Best practices, Content) with its number of issues. Click a group to see only its issues. Click it again to see them all.
  2. An issue. The dot shows how serious it is: red for critical, orange for a warning, grey for a suggestion. Click the issue to see the page address and the details, and, for issues you fix yourself, the How to fix steps. On its right:
    • Fix with AI, Fix with AI assistant or Needs your action says how it can be fixed. See How to fix SEO issues with AI.
    • Go to page opens the page in the editor.

What a Site Health audit checks

  • Google PageSpeed measures your homepage twice: as on a computer and as on a phone.
  • TeleportHQ's checks on your live homepage: the page title and its length (aim for 10 to 60 characters), the search description and its length (aim for 50 to 160 characters), the main heading (H1, missing or more than one), images without alt text (a short description for screen readers and Google), the favicon, the social sharing tags, the site language, the canonical address, structured data, robots.txt, sitemap.xml, and links from the homepage to your other pages that lead nowhere (up to 30 links).
  • TeleportHQ's checks on your project in the editor: every page's SEO title and search description (missing, or the same title on several pages), every image without alt text, and a missing social sharing image.

The scores only measure the homepage. To find every broken link on every page, before or after you publish, use the editor's Issues window: see How to find and fix broken links on your site.

Check that it worked

The audit appears in Audit history with its date, your address, four coloured scores (Performance, SEO, Accessibility, Best practices), the number of issues and the status Completed. Click any row to open its report again.

Run audit is now greyed out, with the notice You have already audited the current version, until you publish again. Click Publish project in the notice to open the Publish window.

Troubleshooting

"You have already audited the current published version. Publish your latest changes to run a new audit." Each audit measures your live site, so you get one per published version. Publish again, then run a new audit.

"Daily audit limit reached — you can run 5 audits per day per project. The counter resets at midnight UTC." Wait until midnight UTC, then run it again.

"Your published site could not be reached. Publish the project and try again." TeleportHQ couldn't open your live site. Check that it's online, publish again, and retry.

"Audits cannot run on password-protected sites. Make the site public first: remove the password in the Publish window, which on a trial takes a subscription." On Pro or Premium, click Remove under Password Protection in the Publish window, run the audit, then click Enable again (you get a new password). On the trial, the password can't be removed: the audit works after the workspace subscribes.

"An audit is already running — give it a minute and refresh." Someone already started an audit on this project. Wait for it to finish.

"The audit is taking longer than expected — refresh in a moment." or "The audit failed. Please try again in a few minutes." Something slowed down or went wrong on the way. Reload the editor, open Site Health again, and check Audit history. If the audit isn't there, run it again later.

"Performance scores were unavailable for this run — the issue checks below still apply." Google PageSpeed didn't answer this time, so there are no scores, but the issue list is still valid. The audit's status is Partial.

I fixed issues but my scores didn't change Scores come from your live site. Publish your fixes, then run a new audit.
