How to fix SEO issues with AI

After a TeleportHQ Site Health audit, AI can fix many of the issues it finds. In the Audit report, click Apply fixes with AI to fix everything it can, or Fix with AI on one issue. TeleportHQ shows each proposed change; you keep the ones you want and click Apply. The fixes change your project in the editor, so publish afterwards to update your live site.

Before you start

  • Plan and role. AI fixes are part of Growth, which comes with the Trial, Pro and Premium plans. You need the Owner, Admin or Designer role.
  • AI tokens. Writing fixes uses AI tokens, and so does each social sharing image AI creates. See What uses AI tokens, and how much?.
  • An audit. Run a Site Health audit first. AI fixes only work on your newest report. See How to check your site's SEO health.

Which issues AI can fix

In a TeleportHQ Audit report, the right side of each issue says how it can be fixed:

  • Fix with AI: AI writes the fix for you. This covers pages with no SEO title or no search description, incomplete social sharing tags, a missing social sharing image, images without alt text (a short description for screen readers and Google), and links or buttons without a readable label.
  • Fix with AI assistant: TeleportHQ writes a ready-made request for the AI Assistant. This covers a missing main heading (H1) or more than one, a page title or search description that's missing, too short or too long on the live site, and links to your own pages that lead nowhere.
  • Needs your action: you fix it yourself. A one-line hint shows under the issue. Click the issue to read the How to fix steps. For example, for a missing favicon: upload one in Project settings → Site → General, then publish again.

Fix issues in one go

  1. In the left sidebar, click Growth, then SEO & Performance.
  2. On the Site Health tab, click your newest audit in Audit history. The Audit report opens.
  3. Under Issues found, click Apply fixes with AI. The line next to it says how many issues AI can fix, for example "12 can be auto-fixed with AI".
  4. The Apply fixes with AI window opens. Wait while AI works through the groups (Metadata, Images, Link labels, Social image). Each proposed change appears in a list, with its box ticked. When AI is done, the window says, for example, "Done — 12 fixes ready."
  5. Untick any change you don't want. A new social sharing image shows "Generating preview…" until the picture is ready.
  6. Click Apply 12 fixes (the button counts the ticked changes).
  7. Publish your site. See How to publish your site.

A message confirms the change, for example "12 fixes applied. Publish your project to update the live site." In the report, the fixed issues show Fixed.

To fix a single issue, click Fix with AI on its row instead of step 3. The same window opens with only that fix.

To close the window without changing anything, click Discard (Cancel while AI is still working). Social images that AI created for the window are removed.

Fix an issue with the AI Assistant

  1. On the issue's row in the TeleportHQ Audit report, click Fix with AI assistant. The button reads Opening… while TeleportHQ prepares the request.
  2. The Growth panel closes, the left sidebar shows your pages (with the page that has the issue selected, when there is one), and the AI Assistant opens with the request already typed: "Opened the AI assistant with a ready-to-send fix. Review it and press Enter to apply."
  3. Read the request, then press Enter to send it.
  4. Check what the AI Assistant changed, then publish.

To look at the problem yourself first, click Go to page on the issue's row. The page opens in the editor.

Check that it worked

Fixed issues show a Fixed label in the report, and the line under Issues found counts them, for example "· 12 fixed". To see new scores, publish your site and run a new audit.

Troubleshooting

"No automatic fixes could be produced." AI found nothing it could change safely. Fix the issues by hand, using the How to fix steps.

"Could not generate fixes." Something went wrong. Close the window and try again in a moment.

"Could not generate an image." AI couldn't create the social sharing image, so that change is unticked. Apply the others, or add an image yourself. See How to choose the image and text shown when your page is shared.

"No fixes could be applied — the target pages or elements no longer exist." The pages or elements in the report were deleted or changed after the audit. Publish, then run a new audit.

"Past audit — run a new audit to fix these issues with AI" You opened an older report. Only the newest report offers AI fixes.

"This issue cannot be fixed with AI." or "Could not prepare an assistant fix. Please try again." Fix this issue by hand, or ask the AI Assistant yourself.

The Apply button is greyed out AI is still working, every change is unticked, or a ticked social image is still being created. Wait until its preview appears.

My speed score didn't change after fixing Fixes change your project, not the live site, and the scores measure the live site. Many fixes improve search and sharing without changing the speed score. Publish, then run a new audit.

What uses AI tokens, and how much?

In TeleportHQ, every AI feature uses AI tokens for the AI work it really does, so costs vary; as a guide, an AI website page is about 3,000 tokens, a web app page about 15,000, a new section at least 1,500 and a 4-second AI video about 9,000, while stock images cost nothing, a run that fails before the AI works costs nothing, and AI 3D models aren't available yet.
