How to undo and redo changes

How to undo and redo changes

In the TeleportHQ editor, click the Undo arrow above the canvas (or press Ctrl+Z, Cmd+Z on a Mac) to reverse your last change, and Redo (Ctrl+Shift+Z, Cmd+Shift+Z on a Mac) to bring it back. Undo only remembers the changes you made yourself since you opened the project. To go back further, restore a backup.

Steps

  1. Make a change on the canvas, for example delete a section.
  2. In the canvas top bar, click the Undo button (hover over the arrows to see the tooltip). The last change is reversed.
  3. Click Undo again to reverse the change before that, and so on.
  4. To bring a change back, click the Redo button next to it.

Check that it worked

The canvas shows the page as it was before your last change. When there is nothing left to undo, the Undo button is greyed out. When there is nothing to redo, Redo is greyed out.

Troubleshooting

Undo is greyed out after I reloaded the page TeleportHQ keeps undo history only in your current browser tab. Reloading, closing the tab or leaving the project clears it. Your work is still saved automatically, but earlier steps can't be undone. To go back to an older state, restore a backup. See How to back up and restore your project.

Ctrl+Z only changed the text I was typing While you're typing inside a text element or a field in the settings panel, Ctrl+Z undoes your typing, like in any text box. Click an empty part of the canvas, then press Ctrl+Z again to undo editor changes.

Undo didn't reverse a teammate's change Undo only covers changes you made. Changes made by collaborators, or by you in another browser tab, aren't in your undo history. Ask your teammate to undo them, or change the element back by hand.

Undo doesn't bring back a screen size I removed Some actions can't be undone, including:

  • Saving changes in Breakpoints Settings (adding, removing or resizing screen sizes). Removing a screen size deletes its styles for good.
  • Changing who can access the project, or removing a collaborator.
  • AI Tailor project to my business runs.
  • Many automatic setup steps run by AI and by features such as the online store or data sources.

For these, take a backup first (backups aren't included in the trial). See How to back up and restore your project.

My whole undo history disappeared If an undo step fails, TeleportHQ clears the undo and redo history so your project stays consistent. Your saved work isn't affected.

Good to know

  • No step limit. You can undo as many of your own changes as you made in the session.
  • Big actions count as one step. A multi-step action, such as an AI design refinement or one request to the AI Assistant, is undone with one click.
  • Undo doesn't change your live site. If you already published, publish again after undoing.
  • Folder renames can't be undone. Rename the folder again instead.
  • AI changes. To reverse changes made by the AI Assistant, see How to undo changes made by the AI Assistant.

In the TeleportHQ editor, click Backups in the bottom toolbar, then Backup current project state to save a snapshot, or Restore next to a backup (such as Before Web App features Enabled) to bring the project back to that point; backups need a Pro or Premium plan, trial users ask support to restore, and you must republish afterwards.

How to undo changes made by the AI Assistant

In TeleportHQ, undo an AI Assistant request with the Undo button above the canvas or Ctrl/Cmd+Z (one request is one Undo step), restore bigger changes from a project backup, and roll back a publish from your deployments; database changes, store refunds or cancellations, and booking actions or refunds made by AI can't be undone.

How to go back to an earlier version of your live site

TeleportHQ has no single rollback button; to put an earlier version back live, open Publish → Deployments and click Redeploy on an older Production deployment, promote a finished Staging build, or restore a backup in the editor and publish again.

How to edit a project together in real time

In TeleportHQ, everyone with access can open the same project at once and see each other's changes live; collaborators' avatars appear at the top right of the editor, clicking one follows that person, and clicking your own avatar brings everyone to the page you have open.
