What do the warnings at the top of the editor mean?
The chips at the top left of the TeleportHQ editor, next to the logo, warn you about something in your project that needs attention. N issues means a setting such as an API key is missing, or a link on your site leads nowhere. N security issues means workflow code could expose secrets. Subscription ended or Subscription required means a plan is needed to keep editing or publishing. Click a chip to see what's wrong and how to fix it.
"1 issue" / "3 issues" (yellow)
The yellow issues chip in the TeleportHQ editor means parts of your project won't work until you fix them: "settings it still needs, or links that lead nowhere". For example, a workflow sends email with SendGrid but no SendGrid API key is saved yet, or a button links to a page you deleted.
To fix it:
- At the top left of the editor, click the yellow issues chip. The Issues window opens, with a line such as "3 things to fix for your project to work correctly".
- Look at the sections. Each lists the items that need attention:
- AI Assistant Chat: your site's AI chatbot has no API key for its AI provider.
- Setup Requested by the Assistant: the AI Assistant opened setup cards for you.
- Missing Credentials: a service (email, SMS, AI, payments or another integration) needs keys, or an email service needs a real sender address. Chips show which workflows use it.
- Missing Page / Element Selections: a workflow step needs you to pick a page or element, or the one it used no longer exists.
- Broken Workflow Nodes: a workflow step has a setting error.
- AI models that were shut down: a workflow's AI step uses a model its provider has shut down. Your published site uses the provider's replacement, so the step keeps working; open the step and pick a model to clear it.
- Missing State References: a workflow step uses a stored value that was deleted.
- Broken links on pages: buttons, navigation links and text links, on every page and component, that lead somewhere your site doesn't have, for example "The page it linked to was deleted" or "No page has this address". Click Show next to a link: the page opens with the element selected, so you can link it again or remove its link.
- Broken links in Blog posts and Broken links in Help Center articles: links in the text of a post or article that lead to an address your site doesn't have. Open the post or article to change or remove them.
- Click a card to open it. Fill in the fields it asks for, for example your email provider's API key, then click the save button. For workflow items, click the chip or card to open the workflow editor.
- Repeat for each card. When nothing is left, the window says Nothing to fix. and the chip disappears.
The link check reads your project, not the live site, so it finds broken links before your first publish. While it runs, the window says "Checking the links on your site…". See How to find and fix broken links on your site.
Keys you save here are stored as project secrets. Missing configurations and broken links don't stop you from publishing, but the parts that need them, such as a workflow that sends email, won't work on your live site until you add them. See Why does my workflow show missing configuration or security warnings?
"1 security issue" / "2 security issues" (red or yellow)
The shield chip in the TeleportHQ editor means custom code inside a workflow could leak secret information or run unsafe code. A red chip means at least one issue blocks publishing. A yellow chip means the issues are warnings only.
To fix it:
- At the top left, click the shield chip. The Security warnings window opens.
- Issues under Critical security violations have the badge Blocks publish. Issues under Security warnings have the badge Warning and don't block publishing.
- Click a card. It shows the workflow and step, the code line, an explanation, and a Fix: hint.
- Click Open the workflow editor and change the code as the hint suggests.
When all issues are gone, the window says No security issues detected. Your workflows are clean. and the chip disappears. If you click Publish while a blocking issue remains, you see Resolve the critical security violations before publishing. See Why does my workflow show missing configuration or security warnings?
"Subscription ended — resubscribe to edit" / "Read-only — subscription ended"
This TeleportHQ chip means the workspace's trial or subscription has ended, so every project in it opens read-only. You can look at the project but can't change it.
- If you own the workspace, the chip reads Subscription ended — resubscribe to edit. Click it to choose a plan. Editing comes back as soon as you subscribe.
- If you're a collaborator, the chip reads Read-only — subscription ended. Only the workspace owner can fix it. Ask them to resubscribe.
The Share button also changes to View only. See What happens when my trial or subscription ends?
"Subscription required — 5 days left"
This TeleportHQ chip appears on a web app project that isn't covered by your plan. The project keeps full access for a short time, including publishing with a TeleportHQ watermark, but it needs its own subscription to keep running.
- First, an orange banner at the bottom of the editor explains the deadline, for example that the site goes offline and the project is archived on a date. The project stays archived until a slot covers it; it's never deleted. The banner has Preview and Subscribe project buttons.
- If you close the banner, the chip Subscription required (or Subscription required today, or Subscription required — 5 days left) stays at the top left.
- Click the chip or Subscribe project to get a web app slot for the project.
See Why does my web app need a slot, and what is the 7-day window?
"Trial · 5d left"
If you own a workspace on the TeleportHQ free trial, a chip such as Trial · 5d left shows how many days are left. Click Subscribe now to pick a plan. Collaborators don't see this chip. See How does the TeleportHQ free trial work?
The warning icon at the top right (Recent errors and warnings)
After the TeleportHQ editor shows an error or a warning message, a small warning icon appears at the top right of the header, before the avatars and Share. A number on it counts the messages you haven't seen yet.
- Click the icon. The Recent errors and warnings list opens with the messages the editor showed earlier, so you can read one again after it disappeared.
- To send a message to support, click Copy next to it and paste it into your chat.
- Click Clear all to empty the list. The icon goes away until the next message.
Other warnings you may see in the editor
"Connection lost. Reconnecting automatically… Your edits are paused until it is back." or "You're offline. Editing resumes when your connection returns." The TeleportHQ editor lost its connection. Your edits are paused until it reconnects, so wait a moment and check your internet connection. See Why is the editor slow, or saying I'm offline?
"The server rejected one of your edits, so it was not saved. Reload the editor to continue safely." TeleportHQ couldn't save your last change. Click Reload editor on the message, then make that change again.
"Your browser window is too narrow. Building capabilities are disabled." (or "too short", "too small") The TeleportHQ editor needs a window at least 767 pixels wide and 700 pixels tall. Make the window bigger, or click Continue anyway. See Which browsers and devices does TeleportHQ work on?
"Your browser is not fully supported" The editor works best in a Chromium-based browser such as Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Brave or Opera. Switch browsers, or click Continue anyway.
"State: hover" with Cancel You're styling an element's hover (or focus, active…) look. Click the message to go back to normal styling. See How to add hover and click effects.
A speech-bubble note above the page Some special pages explain themselves in a note next to Ask AI, for example a page that shows admin panel content and can't be edited on the canvas. Read the note for where to edit that content.
