How to find keyword ideas with AI
Keywords are the words people type into Google to find sites like yours. The TeleportHQ Keywords tab (in Growth → SEO & Performance) has two AI tools. Recommendations reads your pages and suggests better titles, descriptions and content for each one. AI keyword ideas suggests search terms to target. Both work without Google Search Console, and get more precise once it's connected.
Before you start
- Plan and role. The Keywords tab is part of Growth, which comes with the Trial, Pro and Premium plans. You need the Owner, Admin or Designer role.
- AI tokens. Analyzing pages, generating keyword ideas and Improve with AI use AI tokens. See What uses AI tokens, and how much?.
- A published site. See How to publish your site.
- Text on your pages. The AI reads your page content to understand what your business does.
Get page-by-page recommendations
- In the left sidebar, click Growth.
- Click SEO & Performance, then Keywords in the list on the left. Recommendations is selected.
- Click Analyze pages. The button reads Analyzing… while the AI works, and results appear page by page.
- Read the results, grouped by page, the most important first. Each suggestion has:
- a label, such as Close to page one, Low click-through, Keyword not in title, Keyword not in description, Missing page title, Missing meta description, Title too short or Unclear keyword target;
- its impact: High impact, Medium impact or Low impact;
- with Search Console connected, the search term and its position, impressions and click-through rate.
- To apply one suggestion, click Improve with AI on it. To apply every suggestion for a page, click Improve all on this page (N) next to the page's name.
- TeleportHQ closes the Growth panel, opens the AI Assistant and sends it the request. A message confirms: "Sent to the AI assistant — it is updating your page. Publish your project to update the live site." The suggestion now shows Sent.
- Publish your site.
The line under your address says what the suggestions are based on: Based on your page content, or Grounded in your Google Search Console data once Search Console is connected. It also says how many analyses you have left today. Click Go to page next to a page's name to open it in the editor instead.
Get AI keyword ideas
- On the TeleportHQ Keywords tab, click Performance data.
- If Search Console isn't connected, click No Search Console yet? See AI keyword ideas →.
Read the AI keyword ideas. They're grouped by theme, and each theme says what searchers want (their intent), for example "commercial intent". The ideas show:
- Easier, Moderate or Harder: how hard each search term is to rank for (an AI estimate), with why it's worth targeting.
- Where to use: where on your site the theme's terms belong, such as a page title or a heading.
- Regenerate ideas: click it for a new set of ideas.
When Search Console is connected but Google has no data for your site yet, the ideas show by themselves under No Search Console data yet.
Check that it worked
After you use Improve with AI, open the page in the editor, or its SEO settings, to see the new title, description or text. Your ideas and recommendations stay on the tab when you come back later. After you publish changes, click Re-analyze to refresh the recommendations.
Troubleshooting
"No keyword ideas yet." Your pages don't have enough text for the AI to work with. Add more content, then click Regenerate ideas.
"No keyword opportunities found right now." The AI found nothing to improve. Re-analyze after you publish changes, or once your site gets more search traffic.
"Daily keyword analysis limit reached. Resets at midnight UTC." You can analyze pages 5 times per day per project. Try again after midnight UTC.
"There are no pages to analyze yet." Add pages with content, and publish your site.
"We couldn't analyze your pages. Please try again." Something went wrong on the way. Click Analyze pages again in a moment.
"The AI assistant is busy finishing another task. Your keyword update is ready in the chat — press Enter to send it when the assistant is free." Wait for the AI Assistant to finish, then press Enter in it.
"Could not send automatically — it is ready in the AI assistant. Press Enter to send it." Press Enter in the AI Assistant.
Good to know
- Big sites. Recommendations cover up to 12 pages per analysis, homepage first. The results then say, for example, "Analyzed your top 12 of 30 pages."
- Search Console makes suggestions sharper. With real search data, the AI can spot searches where you're close to page one. In Recommendations, click Connect to connect it. See How to connect Google Search Console and see your keywords.
- Use keywords naturally. Put your main keyword in the page's title and description, and in a heading, without repeating it over and over. See How to set a page's title and description for Google.
