How to write or update blog posts with AI
In TeleportHQ, you can draft a complete blog post with AI: click + (New Post) in the Blog panel, click Generate with AI, describe the topic and click Generate Post. To rewrite an existing post, open it and click Update using AI. Both use AI tokens, and nothing is saved until you click Create Post or Save Changes.
Before you start
- Your project needs an active blog. See How to add a blog to your site.
- Generate with AI needs at least 400 AI tokens in your workspace. Update using AI needs at least 300. You're charged for what the AI actually uses. See What uses AI tokens, and how much?
Steps
Generate a new post with AI
- In the left sidebar, click Blog. If you don't see it, click Plugins, click Blog, then click Open next to Blog panel.
- At the top of the Blog panel, click + (New Post). The New Blog Post panel opens.
- At the top of the panel, click Generate with AI. The Generate Blog Post with AI window opens.
- In What should the blog post be about?, describe the post. Include the audience, the tone and the key points. For example:
A friendly guide for home bakers on how we bake our sourdough, from feeding the starter to the overnight rise. - Click Generate Post, or press Enter. After a moment, the window closes and the form fills in.
- Review every field: the images, title, slug, content, excerpt, categories, tags, author and SEO fields. The AI can create new categories for the post. They're only saved when you save the post.
- Under Author, pick your own author. The AI fills in a made-up author. See How to add authors to your posts and articles.
- Click Create Post to save it.
You can also click Create with AI on an empty blog page in the canvas. It opens the same window.
In the Help Center, the window reads Generate Article with AI and asks what the article should be about. Under the topic it also shows Writing style: Task-oriented (steps in order, what you see when it worked, what to check when it did not) or Storytelling (a reader's situation told as a short story, with the steps inside it). It is the same choice as Help Center Settings → Writing style, where a Generate article with AI button opens a new article with this window. Articles already written keep their style.
Rewrite an existing post with AI
- In the Blog panel, click the post. The Edit Blog Post panel opens.
- Next to Content, click Update using AI. The Update Content with AI window opens.
- Under Quick changes, pick one, for example Fix grammar & spelling.
- Optional: in Or describe your own change, type your instructions. For example:
Add a short section about feeding the starter while on holiday. - Click Update Content. The post's content is replaced.
- Read the new content. Click Save Changes to keep it, or Cancel to throw it away.
The Quick changes are Improve writing & clarity, Fix grammar & spelling, Make it more engaging, Make it more professional, Simplify & shorten, Expand with more detail and Optimize for SEO.
Check that it worked
- A generated post appears in the Blog panel after you click Create Post, and the canvas shows it on the post page.
- An updated post shows the new text after you click Save Changes.
Troubleshooting
"You need more tokens to continue with this operation." Your workspace has fewer AI tokens than the action needs. Buy a token package in the window that opens, then try again. See How to buy more AI tokens.
"Failed to generate blog post. Please try again." The AI request didn't finish. Click Generate Post again. In the Help Center, the message reads "Failed to generate article. Please try again.", and the button is Generate Article.
Update using AI is greyed out The tooltip says "Add some content before updating with AI". The AI rewrites existing content, so write at least a few lines first.
"Failed to update the content. Please try again." The AI request didn't finish. Click Update Content again.
I can't find Generate with AI when editing a post Generate with AI is only on a new post. For an existing post, use Update using AI.
Good to know
- Update using AI only rewrites the content. The title, images, categories and other fields stay as they are.
- Blog posts generated with AI get stock photos and a made-up author. Replace them with your own before publishing.
- Generated posts start as Published in the form, like any new post. Change Status to Draft before saving if you want to review the post later.
- On a site with several languages, Generate with AI fills in every language, and Update using AI rewrites the content in every language.
- The Help Center has the same two buttons, in its New Help Center Article and Edit Help Center Article panels. A generated Help Center article gets a cover photo only while Card pictures is on in Help Center Settings → Listing → Listing Page Settings. It's off at the start, so generated articles start without one.
- You can also ask the AI Assistant to write a blog post. Posts it writes start as Draft unless you ask it to publish them.
