How to schedule a blog post

How to schedule a blog post

In TeleportHQ, you schedule a blog post from its panel: click Schedule next to Status, pick a Publishing date, and save. The post stays hidden until that moment, then publishes itself and appears on your live site within seconds, with no need to publish the project again. Help Center articles are scheduled the same way. Scheduling only works when your blog or help center stores its posts in the built-in TeleportHQ database.

Before you start

  • Your blog or help center must use the TeleportHQ database. On any other database, the Schedule button is off.
  • Your web app must stay active. If the project's web app access ends, scheduled posts stop publishing. See Why does my web app need a slot, and what is the 7-day window?
  • The blog pages must have been published at least once, so the post has a live page to appear on.
  • Scheduling works the same for Help Center articles, in the Help Center panel, also on a project that has only the Help Center.

Steps

  1. In the left sidebar, click Blog (or Help Center). If you don't see it, click Plugins, click Blog, then click Open next to Blog panel.
  2. Click + (New Post) to write a new post, or click an existing post to open it.
  3. Fill in the post. See How to write and publish a blog post.
  4. Next to Status, click Schedule. The button changes to Scheduled, and a Publishing date field appears, set to one hour from now.
  5. In Publishing date, choose the day and time, for example next Monday at 9:00. Times are in your own time zone.
  6. Check the line under Status. It reads "Hidden until" followed by your date, then "then published automatically."
  7. Click Create Post for a new post (Create Article in the Help Center), or Save Changes for an existing one.

Check that it worked

  • In the Blog panel, the post shows a Scheduled badge and its date.
  • The post isn't on your live site yet. After the publishing date, the badge changes to Published and the post appears on your blog.

Troubleshooting

The Schedule button is greyed out The tooltip says "Publishing at a future date needs the built-in Teleport database, so it is not available on this project." Your blog stores posts in your own database. Publish the post by hand at the time you want, or keep it as Draft until then.

"That moment has already passed — this post will publish as soon as you save." The publishing date is in the past. Pick a future date, or save to publish the post right away.

"Scheduled posts need a publishing date before they can go live." The date was cleared. Pick a date in Publishing date, or choose another status. If you save a scheduled post without a date, it's saved as a Draft.

My scheduled post didn't publish on time TeleportHQ checks every hour for posts it missed, and publishes overdue posts when you open the project in the editor. If the post still isn't live, check that your web app is still active. See Why isn't my blog post showing on my site?

Good to know

  • To cancel a schedule, choose another status (Draft, Published or Archived). This also takes the publishing date away.
  • The X next to the date (Clear the publishing date) empties the field. Saved that way, the post becomes a Draft.
  • The publishing date is also the date shown on the post.
  • Scheduled can't be picked from the Status list. Use the Schedule button.
  • On the canvas, a scheduled post shows Post Not Available (Article Not Available in the Help Center). Publish Post (Publish Article) there publishes it right away.
  • To publish many drafts now instead, see How to publish, move or delete several posts at once.

How to write and publish a blog post

In TeleportHQ, open the Blog panel, click + (New Post), add a title and your content, keep the status on Published and click Create Post; published posts appear on your live site within seconds, and the same steps write Help Center articles.

Why isn't my blog post showing on my site?

A TeleportHQ blog post or Help Center article only shows on your site when its status is Published and its pages have been published at least once; drafts, archived posts, CSV or JSON imports without a status, AI Assistant posts and posts or articles scheduled for later stay hidden.

How to set up the built-in TeleportHQ database

To add the built-in TeleportHQ database, open Data Sources in the editor's left sidebar, click + (Add Data Source), choose TeleportHQ database and click Setup TeleportHQ Database; TeleportHQ creates a hosted database for the project that you then fill with tables.

Why does my web app need a slot, and what is the 7-day window?

In TeleportHQ, each web app needs its own Web App slot to keep publishing and running; a web app without one gets 7 days of full access with a watermark, then its site goes offline and it is archived until you add a slot, and it is never deleted.

How to publish, move or delete several posts at once

In the TeleportHQ Blog or Help Center panel, tick the posts you want, then use the bar at the top of the list to Publish, Unpublish, move them to a category (Move to…), credit an author (Set author…) or Delete them all at once.
