How to generate images with AI
To generate an image with AI in TeleportHQ, select an image on the canvas and click Generate with AI. On the AI Generation tab, choose a size and quality, describe the picture, press Enter, then click Replace Image. You can also add the AI Image element, create an image from the Assets Manager, or edit an uploaded photo with a reference image. Every generated image is saved to your project's assets.
Before you start
- Generating images uses AI tokens. Higher quality and bigger sizes cost more. If your balance is too low, the Purchase Tokens window opens instead. See What uses AI tokens, and how much?.
- Generated images count toward your project's storage. See What is the Assets Manager?.
Replace an image on your page
- On the TeleportHQ canvas, click the image you want to replace.
- Click Generate with AI. The Generate with AI window opens with the tabs AI Generation, Stock Images and Convert to Video.
- On AI Generation, choose a Size: Square (1024×1024), Landscape (1536×1024) or Portrait (1024×1536).
- Choose a Quality: Low - Fastest, lowest cost (selected when the window opens), Medium - Default, balanced quality/cost or High - Best quality, highest cost.
- In Ask AI to generate other source for element..., describe the image and press Enter. For example:
Flat illustration of a bakery counter at sunrise, warm colors.
- Look at the Generated Image Preview. Click Replace Image to use it.
Not happy? Change your description and press Enter again. Each try is a new image and uses tokens again. Earlier results aren't lost: every image you generate is saved in the ai-generated folder of the Assets Manager, so you can pick one from there later.
Edit a photo with AI
- Select the image and click Generate with AI.
- On AI Generation, click Add reference image (optional) and upload the photo you want to change. You see Reference image active.
- Describe the change, for example
Add a steaming coffee cup on the table, and press Enter. - Click Replace Image.
To keep refining a result, click Use as reference in the preview, then describe the next change.
Add a new AI image
- In the left sidebar, click Elements, open Primitives, and find the AI group.
- Add AI Image to your page. The Generate Image with AI window opens.
- In Prompt, describe the image (Describe the image you want to generate...).
- Choose the size and quality, then click Generate.
- Click Add to Selected Node to place it on your page, or Close.
Create an image from the Assets Manager
- New image: in the Assets Manager, on Uploads, click + on a folder and choose Generate new asset. The Generate Image with AI window opens.
- Variation of an existing image: right-click an image in the Assets Manager and choose Generate AI Variation. The window opens with that image as the reference.
The image is saved to your assets with the message "Image generated and saved to assets library".
Check that it worked
The new image shows on the canvas, and a copy is saved in the Assets Manager, so you can reuse it on other pages.
Troubleshooting
Generate with AI is greyed out on an image The image comes from your data (for example a blog or database), and the tooltip says the feature is unavailable for images whose source comes from CMS data. Change the image where the data is stored.
The Purchase Tokens window opens Your balance is too low for this image. Buy tokens or choose a lower quality. See How to buy more AI tokens.
"Failed to generate image. Please try again.", "Failed to edit image. Please try again." or "An error occurred while generating the image" Try again. If it keeps failing, change your description; very specific or unusual requests can fail.
"An error occurred while generating the image" with a large photo as the reference TeleportHQ's AI takes a reference picture of at most 16.8 megapixels, for example 4096×4096 pixels. A bigger one, such as a 6000×4000 photo from a camera, is refused ("The image is too large (6000x4000); it can have at most 16.8 megapixels, such as 4096x4096"), and the window shows "An error occurred while generating the image". Make the photo smaller first: select it on the canvas, click Edit image, choose 2048 under Size on the Export tab, and click Save as new image. Then use the smaller picture as the reference. The same limit applies when you turn a picture into a video with Convert to Video, where the message is "Failed to generate video. Please try again." The image editor's own AI tab isn't affected: it sends the AI a copy of at most 1536 pixels.
"The maximum assets size has been reached for this project" or "Could not create asset(s). The maximum number of assets has been reached for this project" There's no room left in the project's assets for the new image. Delete files you don't use from the Assets Manager, or see your plan's limits.
"Image generated but failed to save to assets" The image was made but not stored. Check that your project has free storage, then try again.
"Image generation limit for your current plan has been reached." or "AI generation limit for your current plan has been reached." Your plan doesn't allow more generated images. This can happen on older plans or when a subscription has ended. See What's the difference between Trial, Pro and Premium?.
My reference image is ignored In the Generate Image with AI window (the AI Image element, Generate new asset and Generate AI Variation), a reference image larger than 4 MB is skipped without a message: use a smaller file. In the Generate with AI window, the limit is 20 MB, and a larger file shows "This picture is too large. Choose one under 20 MB."
