How to buy, assign or cancel a web app slot

In TeleportHQ, a Web App slot keeps one web app (for example a project with user sign-in, workflows or an online store) online and running. To buy one, go to Workspace Settings → Web Apps and click Buy a slot, or click Keep this project next to a web app that's running out of time. An unused slot can be given to a project with Assign to…, and Cancel slot stops the payments.

Before you start

  • You need an active Pro or Premium subscription. A trial includes 1 Web App slot but can't buy more: its Web Apps tab says "Web App slots are not available on this plan." with an Upgrade workspace button.
  • Premium includes 1 Web App slot. Pro includes none. On Pro, the Web Apps tab shows Premium includes a Web App, with Upgrade to Premium and Buy a slot. See How to upgrade from Pro to Premium.
  • You must be the workspace owner. The Web Apps tab is shown only to the owner. In the editor, an admin can also buy a slot for the open project.
  • Why slots exist: a web app without a slot gets 7 days of full access. After that its site goes offline and the project is archived until a slot covers it. See Why does my web app need a slot, and what is the 7-day window?.
  • For prices, see the TeleportHQ pricing page.

How to buy a Web App slot in Workspace Settings

  1. In the left sidebar of the dashboard, point at your workspace under WORKSPACES and click the ⋯ at the end of its row.
  2. Click Web Apps. The tab shows how many web apps you use, what's Included with your plan:, your Purchased slots: and the Total limit:.

  3. Choose how to buy:
    • Next to a web app listed under "N projects without a slot", click Keep this project. The new slot covers that project.
    • Or, at the top of the tab, click Buy a slot. The slot covers a web app that needs one; if none does, it waits for your next web app.
  4. The Buy a Web App slot window shows the slot's price, and Charged today: for the rest of the current billing period.

  5. Click Continue to checkout.
  6. Complete the payment on Stripe's page. You return to the Web Apps tab.

How to buy a Web App slot from the editor

On a web app without a slot, the editor shows a banner at the bottom of the screen. Click Subscribe project. On Pro, the window is called Upgrade to Premium or buy a slot: click Upgrade to Premium, or Buy a slot instead to buy only the slot. On Premium, the Buy a Web App slot window opens: click Buy a slot. When the payment is done, TeleportHQ republishes a project that was published before, without the TeleportHQ watermark.

Check that it worked

On the Web Apps tab, a message says "Confirming your purchase…", then "Your Web App slot is ready — over-quota web apps can now build and publish." Purchased slots: goes up by one, and under Slots the new slot shows Covers: followed by the project name.

A slot bought in Workspace Settings doesn't republish the project. If its site went offline, open the project and publish it again. See How to publish a web app.

How to assign an unused slot

A slot becomes unused when the project it covered is deleted. It shows Unassigned slot and "Not covering a project yet — it'll cover your next web app automatically, or cancel it to stop paying."

  1. Open Workspace Settings → Web Apps.
  2. Under Slots, find the Unassigned slot.
  3. Open its Assign to… list and choose the project. The list only shows web apps that need a slot.

A message says "Slot assigned — the project is covered again." If the project was archived, it comes back. Open it and publish it to bring its site online.

The dashboard also shows a banner while a slot is unused: "You have a paid Web App slot that isn't covering any project." Click Assign it to a project, pick a project in Choose which project your slot covers, and click Cover this project.

How to cancel a Web App slot

  1. Open Workspace Settings → Web Apps.
  2. Under Slots, find the slot and click Cancel slot.
  3. In the Cancel this Web App slot subscription? window, click Cancel subscription. To keep it, click Keep subscription.

The slot then shows "Cancels on" and the date. The project keeps working until that date. Before then, click Renew to keep the slot: it's renewed at once, with no extra window.

What happens to a web app after its slot ends

When a web app has no slot, for example a second web app on Premium, or a web app whose cancelled slot reached the end of its paid period, a countdown starts:

  1. For 7 days it keeps full access, including publishing with a TeleportHQ watermark and running workflows.
  2. After those 7 days its site goes offline and the project is archived. The Web Apps tab then lists it with "Archived until a slot covers it".
  3. After that, it stays archived until a slot covers it. It's never deleted.

Buying or assigning a slot at any point brings it back. See Why does my web app need a slot, and what is the 7-day window?.

Troubleshooting

"Publishing is blocked: this web app is over your team’s Web App quota. Buy a Web App slot to publish and run it." The web app's 7 days are over and it has no slot. Buy or assign a slot using the steps above.

"Could not start the checkout. Please try again." Stripe's page couldn't open. Try again in a moment.

"Your purchase is still being processed — refresh shortly to see the new slot." Stripe hasn't confirmed the payment yet. Refresh the Web Apps tab after a minute.

Good to know

  • Each slot you buy also adds 1 custom domain to your workspace. The slot included with Premium doesn't.
  • Slots follow your plan's billing cycle: monthly or yearly.
  • Resubscribing the workspace doesn't bring back a web app archived for lack of a slot. Only a slot does.
  • Slots cover running web apps, not AI. Generating with AI still uses AI tokens.
  • If the workspace plan ends, its Web App slots end too.

Why does my web app need a slot, and what is the 7-day window?

In TeleportHQ, each web app needs its own Web App slot to keep publishing and running; a web app without one gets 7 days of full access with a watermark, then its site goes offline and it is archived until you add a slot, and it is never deleted.

What add-ons can I buy? (domains, languages, web app slots, editor seats)

On a TeleportHQ Pro or Premium plan you can add extra custom domains, extra languages, Web App slots and extra editor seats; each one is a recurring add-on that follows your plan's monthly or yearly billing, and the workspace owner manages it in Workspace Settings.

How to upgrade from Pro to Premium

To move a TeleportHQ workspace from Pro to Premium, open Workspace Settings → Plans, click Upgrade to Premium, check the prorated amount in the confirmation window and click Confirm and pay; Premium and its 150,000 monthly AI tokens start right away.

What is a web app in TeleportHQ?

In TeleportHQ, a web app is a project that uses server features (workflows, user sign-in, a store, bookings, a blog or help center, an admin panel, an AI chatbot); it publishes from TeleportHQ, can't be downloaded as code, and needs a Web App slot to keep running after 7 days, while show/hide, pop-ups and browser widgets work in websites too.

Publishing failed: what should I do?

When publishing a TeleportHQ site fails, the message names the reason - a build error (read the Build Logs in the Deployments tab), a page, component or style the code can't use, a plan limit such as forms, language slots or a Web App slot, a workflow security problem, private files, or a temporary error you can retry - and your live site stays as it was.
