How to delete your TeleportHQ account

To delete your TeleportHQ account, open Account Settings, click Delete account at the bottom of the General tab, then open the email TeleportHQ sends you and confirm with Delete. Deleting your account permanently deletes every workspace you own, all their projects, and their published sites. It can't be undone.

Before you start

Before you delete your TeleportHQ account:

  1. Cancel your subscriptions. You can't start the deletion while a workspace you own has an active subscription. See How to cancel (or resume) your subscription. A subscription that's already set to cancel doesn't block deletion, but you lose the rest of the paid period.
  2. Save what you want to keep. On a paid plan, download your site's code. See How to download your site as code.
  3. Tell the people in your workspaces. Moving a project or workspace to another account isn't available, but a teammate can make their own copy of a project. See Can I transfer a project to another account?
  4. Leaving a team instead? If you only want to stop working in someone else's workspace, you don't need to delete your account. See How to leave a workspace.

Steps

  1. On the TeleportHQ dashboard, at the top of the left sidebar, point at your name and click the ⋯ icon that appears.
  2. Click Account Settings. The General tab opens.
  3. Scroll to the bottom, to Delete account.
  4. Click the Delete account button. The message "We sent you an e-mail with the next steps. Please check your inbox." appears.
  5. Stay signed in, in the same browser. Open the email from TeleportHQ and click the link in it. The link works for 2 hours.
  6. TeleportHQ opens Account Settings with the Delete account window: "All data associated with your account will be permanently removed. Do you want to proceed?" Click Delete.

TeleportHQ signs you out, opens the Sign in page and shows "Your account has been successfully removed."

Check that it worked

You're signed out and see the sign-in page with the removal message. If you try to sign in again with the same email, TeleportHQ says "No user account associated with this email".

What gets deleted

When you confirm, TeleportHQ deletes:

  • your account and your sign-in;
  • every workspace you own, and every project in them;
  • the published sites of those projects (they go offline) and their custom domains;
  • their uploaded files, databases, visitor analytics, scheduled jobs and scheduled blog posts;
  • community templates you published from those projects;
  • your records in TeleportHQ's billing, support chat and product analytics systems.

Not deleted: workspaces you were invited to by other people. You're removed from them, and their projects stay.

See How TeleportHQ handles your project data and privacy.

Troubleshooting

"You need to cancel any subscription on all your workspaces before being able to delete your account." A workspace you own still has an active subscription. Click I understand, cancel the subscription in that workspace's Plans settings, then click Delete account again. If you can't cancel one, contact TeleportHQ support. See How to get help.

"There was a problem deleting your account. Please try again later." The link expired (after 2 hours), or you weren't signed in with the same account when you opened it. Sign in with the account you want to delete, click Delete account again, and open the newest email in the same browser.

Clicking the email link took me to the sign-up page You weren't signed in, and the link doesn't survive signing in. Sign in first, in the same browser, then click the link in the email again.

"Could not request permission" TeleportHQ couldn't send the email. Wait a minute and click Delete account again.

I didn't get the email Check your spam or junk folder, then click Delete account again to send a new one.

Good to know

  • You can't undo it. Once you click Delete, your account and owned workspaces are gone. TeleportHQ's backups keep their data for 30 days after that, then it's removed for good.
  • Web app slots, extra languages and extra custom domains are add-ons to a workspace's subscription, so cancelling the subscription ends them too. When the account is deleted, TeleportHQ also deletes your customer record at Stripe, its payment provider.

How TeleportHQ handles your project data and privacy

TeleportHQ projects are seen by the people you invite and, if you choose Can view or Can clone, anyone with the link; TeleportHQ uses service providers for sign-in, payments, hosting, support and analytics, and deleting a project or account removes its sites, files and databases (backups keep a deleted account's data for 30 days).
