How to put products on sale and show related products
In a TeleportHQ store, you put a single product on sale from its Discounts row: add a percentage or fixed-amount discount with start and end dates, then save the product. Shoppers see a discount badge and the original price struck through while the discount runs. From the same product form, Related products lets you pick other products to show as "you may also like" cards on the product's page.
Before you start
- The product must exist. See How to add a product.
- Other kinds of discount. For a code shoppers type at checkout, such as
WELCOME10, see How to create discount codes. For store-wide offers that apply on their own, such as "spend 50, save 5" or a sale on a whole category, see How to create automatic discounts.
Put a product on sale
- In the editor's left sidebar, click E-commerce (the card icon). The E-Commerce panel opens.
- In the Products list, click the product, for example
Rye Sourdough Loaf. - In the product form, under More ways to sell it, click Discounts ("Money off this product, now or on a schedule."). The Discounts panel opens beside the form.
- Click Add discount. A New discount form opens, set to 10% for the next free week.
- In Discount type, choose Percentage or Fixed amount.
- In Discount (%) or Discount amount, type the value, for example
20. - Set Starts and Expires, for example 27 November 2026 at 00:00 and 30 November 2026 at 23:59. "Leave a date empty for a discount with no start or no end."
- Check the price preview below the dates: "Customers pay" (or "While active, customers pay" for a later sale), then the new price next to the old one, struck through. Click Create discount.
- In the product form, click Save Changes. The discount is saved only with the product.
Each discount shows as a card with its status: Active, Scheduled or Expired. To change or remove one later, open Discounts and use Edit this discount or Remove this discount on its card, then click Save Changes.
Show related products
- In the product form, under More ways to sell it, click Related products ("Other products shown on this product's page, above the reviews."). The Related Products panel opens beside the form.
- Under Add a product, search "by name, SKU or category", for example
croissant. - Click a product to add it to Selected. Repeat for more.
- Use Move up and Move down to set the order, or Remove to take one out.
- In the product form, click Save Changes.
The related products appear as product cards on this product's details page, above the customer reviews, in the order you set.
Check that it worked
- Sale: in the product form, the Discounts row shows
1 discount. While the discount is active, the product's card in the Products list shows the reduced price with the original price struck through. On your published site, the product card and page show a discount badge. - Related products: the Related products row shows, for example,
3 products. On the published product page, a row of product cards appears above the reviews. If the list is empty, the section stays hidden.
Troubleshooting
"These dates overlap another discount. Only one discount can be active at a time." A product can have several discounts, but their date ranges can't overlap. Change the dates so one ends before the next starts.
"A percentage discount cannot exceed 100%." or "Enter a discount greater than 0." Type a number above 0 and up to 100.
"The end date must be after the start date." Set Expires later than Starts.
"Gift cards cannot be discounted: the price paid is the value put on the card." The product is a gift card. Gift cards can't go on sale. See How to sell gift cards and accept them at checkout.
A related product shows "Hidden on the page while this product is not active." That product is Draft or Inactive, so shoppers won't see it. Set its status to Active, or remove it from the list.
A related product shows "This product was deleted — remove it." Remove it from the list and click Save Changes.
Good to know
- One active discount per product. To plan several sales, give each discount its own dates.
- Discounts apply to every variant. "Each variant is discounted from its own price."
- Product discounts, codes and automatic discounts are separate. A product discount lowers one product's price for everyone. A discount code is typed at checkout. An automatic discount applies to a whole cart that qualifies.
- Shoppers can sort by discount on the products list page ("Discount (low to high)" and "Discount (high to low)").
