How to change one element with a quick AI prompt

To change one element with AI in TeleportHQ without opening the AI Assistant, select the element on the canvas, type what you want in the Quick AI prompt... box that appears above it, and press Enter. For example, select a button and type make it rounded and orange. The AI applies the change to that element. While it works, you can click Stop.

Before you start

  • A quick prompt uses AI tokens. If your balance is too low, you see "You need more tokens to continue with this operation. Please purchase more tokens." See What uses AI tokens, and how much?.
  • You need edit rights on the project.

Steps

  1. On the TeleportHQ canvas, click one element, for example a button or a card. Select only one.
  2. Click in the Quick AI prompt... box above the selection.
  3. Type your change. For example: Make this card's corners rounded and add a soft shadow.

  1. Optional: to pick a mode, click the gear (Settings) next to the box and choose Complex or Fast under Mode. The line under it reads "Fast: text, style and layout only. Clicks, timers and forms need Complex."
The Quick AI prompt settings in TeleportHQ, with the Mode menu set to Fast
  1. Press Enter (or click the arrow).
  2. Wait while the AI works. The element is dimmed and locked. A label on it shows your prompt, then Submitting…, then how many tokens the edit has used so far.

Which mode to use:

  • Complex (the default) is needed for anything that behaves, like clicks, timers and forms, and fits unclear or multi-step changes, like reworking a section or making several changes together.
  • Fast is for text, style and layout changes only, with quicker responses.

Stop a quick edit

To stop a TeleportHQ quick edit while it's working, click Stop (tooltip Stop this edit) on the element's label. The button can be clicked about a second after you submit. A notice tells you what was kept:

  • "Quick edit stopped — changes applied before the stop were kept"
  • "Quick edit stopped — no changes applied"

To take back changes that were kept, use Undo.

Check that it worked

The element changes on the canvas when the AI is done. The AI's reply can stay on the element as a small comment with the AI stars icon:

  • Click the comment to read the reply.
  • To answer it, type in Your response... and submit.
  • To remove it, click Delete comment.

To reuse an earlier prompt for the same element, click View prompt history next to the box.

Troubleshooting

"The chat agent can only edit at most 3 sections at the same time. Please wait for results and try again." Three quick edits are already running. Wait for one to finish.

"Could not process the selected section. Please try a different selection." Select a different element, for example the section's container instead of a small inner element, and try again.

"Quick edit finished with problems: …" Part of the change may not have worked. Check the element. Undo the change if needed and try again with a clearer prompt.

The Quick AI prompt box doesn't appear The box shows only when exactly one element is selected and you can edit the project. It's also hidden on AI Section placeholders, while a section is being replaced, and on elements inside a component that get their content from the component's settings. If a parent element is already being edited, the box is disabled until that edit finishes.

Good to know

  • To change every element of the same kind, say so, for example Apply this style to all buttons with this class.
  • Quick edits don't appear in the AI Assistant chat.
  • Quick edits can be undone with Undo or Ctrl/Cmd+Z. See How to undo changes made by the AI Assistant.
  • For bigger changes, or when you want a conversation, use the AI Assistant. For text only, Rewrite with AI gives ready-made options.
