How to rename a workspace
In TeleportHQ, the workspace Owner renames a workspace from its General settings: point at the workspace in the dashboard sidebar, click ⋯ → Rename, type the new name in Workspace name and click Save Changes. The new name shows everywhere straight away, for everyone in the workspace.
Before you start
- Only the workspace Owner can rename it. Other members see the name as read-only.
Steps
- On your dashboard, in the left sidebar, point at the workspace under WORKSPACES.
- Click the ⋯ icon that appears at the right end of its row.
Click Rename, at the bottom of the menu. Workspace Settings opens on the General tab.
- Scroll to the Workspace card and click the Workspace name field.
- Replace the name with the new one, for example
Studio North. - Click Save Changes.
Check that it worked
TeleportHQ shows "Workspace was successfully updated." The new name appears in the left sidebar.
Troubleshooting
"Name should be between 3 and 90 characters" The name is too short or too long. Use 3 to 50 characters: the message says 90, but a workspace name can have at most 50.
"Name is not in a valid format" The name has characters TeleportHQ doesn't allow, such as <, >, { or }, or its second character is a letter with an accent. Change those characters.
"Workspace name already exists" Another workspace in your sidebar already has this name, including workspaces shared with you. Choose a different name.
Save Changes does nothing The button stays greyed out until you change the name, and does nothing while a message shows under the field. Fix the name first. If you aren't the Owner, the field can't be edited and the button isn't shown.
"Could not rename workspace. Please try again." The name wasn't saved. Reload the page and try again.
Good to know
- The web address doesn't change. The workspace's link in your browser keeps its original name, so saved links still work.
