How to create a new workspace
In TeleportHQ, you create a workspace from the bottom of the dashboard sidebar: click New Workspace, choose a plan (Pro, Premium or Academic), type a name, pick a billing period and click Start with Pro (or the plan you chose) to pay on the checkout page. New workspaces are paid: your account's free trial comes with the first workspace you get when you sign up.
Before you start
- Each workspace has its own plan, members and billing. Create a new workspace when you want to keep a client or brand separate, with its own members and invoices. If you only want to organize projects, dashboard folders may be enough. See How to organize projects in folders.
- Compare plans first. See What's the difference between Trial, Pro and Premium?. Prices are on the TeleportHQ pricing page.
- Have a payment card ready. You pay on a secure Stripe checkout page.
Steps
- On your dashboard, at the bottom of the left sidebar, click New Workspace (with the + icon). The Set up new workspace window opens.
- Under Plan, choose Pro, Premium or Academic. Pro is selected when the window opens.
- In Workspace name, type a name, for example
Bakery Client. - Under Billing period, choose Yearly or Monthly. Yearly is selected and shows how much you save.
- Optional: under Add-ons, use the + and − buttons to add Extra custom domains, Extra languages or Web App slots. They're billed with the plan on one invoice. See What add-ons can I buy?.
- Check the Summary. Due at checkout is what you pay today, and the last line shows what you pay every month or year after.
- Click Start with Pro (or Start with Premium, or Start with Academic). The button also shows the amount due. The Stripe checkout page opens.
- Enter your payment details and complete the payment. You return to TeleportHQ.
Check that it worked
Back on the dashboard, TeleportHQ opens the new workspace. It's listed in the left sidebar under WORKSPACES, with a PRO, PREMIUM or ACADEMIC badge. It can take a few seconds to appear, because TeleportHQ creates it once Stripe confirms the payment. You can now add projects and invite members.
Troubleshooting
"Workspace name is invalid" The name must be 3 to 100 characters long and can't contain <, >, { or }. Its second character must be a letter without an accent, a number, a space or a common symbol such as - or ..
"Workspace name already exists" You already own a workspace with that name. Choose a different name.
"Your account has already used its free trial. Choose a plan on one of your existing workspaces first; after that you can create more workspaces." You clicked Create without a plan, but your account's trial is used up and none of your workspaces has a paid plan. Choose a plan in this window and pay instead, or subscribe one of your existing workspaces first.
"Could not create workspace. Please try again." TeleportHQ couldn't create the workspace. Reload the page and try again. If the payment went through and no workspace appears after a minute, write to hello@teleporthq.io.
A message about a price that isn't available The plan or an add-on has no price in your currency yet. Remove the add-on, or write to hello@teleporthq.io.
Good to know
- The "Create without a plan" button. Accounts whose workspaces all have a paid plan also see Create without a plan in this window. TeleportHQ has no free plan: the button creates the workspace without a checkout. The new workspace gets whatever is left of your account's 7-day trial. Once that trial is over, the workspace starts locked, and TeleportHQ says: "Your workspace was created, but without a trial: this account has already used its free trial. Choose a plan for the new workspace to start building in it." Choose a plan for it on its Plans page before you build in it.
- One trial per account. The 7-day trial comes with the first workspace you get at sign-up. See How does the TeleportHQ free trial work?.
- Editors. On Pro and Premium the Owner is included, and every extra editor you invite later is a paid seat. See How do editor seats work, and what do they cost?.
- The Academic plan is a fixed-price plan for schools and courses, with 25 editor seats included. See What is the Academic plan?.
- Renewal. The plan renews automatically every month or year until you cancel it under Workspace Settings → Plans. See How to cancel (or resume) your subscription.
