How to keep a project you built before signing up
If you started working on a TeleportHQ project without an account, you can keep it. Click Register for free in the blue bar at the top of the editor and create your account, or sign in, in the same browser. When your dashboard opens, choose a workspace in the Save anonymous project to your workspaces window and click Save project. The project moves into your workspace.
Before you start
- Use the same browser. TeleportHQ remembers your guest project in the browser you used. Don't clear your browser data or switch devices before you sign up.
- Do it within 7 days. The offer to save your guest project expires 7 days after you start signing up.
- Your workspace needs room for the project. A trial workspace holds 1 project. See How many projects can I have?.
- Where a guest project comes from. When you open a link to a TeleportHQ project shared with Can clone without signing in, TeleportHQ gives you your own copy to edit as a guest. A link shared with Can view only lets you look.
Steps
- In the TeleportHQ editor, find the blue bar at the very top: "Register for free to save your project".
- Click Register for free. The Sign up for free window opens.
- Create your account: click Sign up with Google, Sign up with GitHub or Create account with email. If you already have a TeleportHQ account, sign in instead.
- If TeleportHQ asks you to confirm your email, open the confirmation email and click the link, in the same browser.
- When your dashboard opens, the Save anonymous project to your workspaces window appears.
- In the workspace menu, choose the workspace for the project.
- Click Save project. The project moves into that workspace. If you're still in the browser tab where you signed up, it also opens in the editor.
If you have only one workspace with room, TeleportHQ saves the project there without asking.
Check that it worked
On your TeleportHQ dashboard, the project appears as a card in the workspace you chose. When you open it, the blue Register for free bar is gone.
Troubleshooting
The Save anonymous project window didn't appear TeleportHQ couldn't find your guest project in this browser. This happens if you signed up in a different browser or device, cleared your browser data, or waited more than 7 days. Try again from the same browser where you built the project. If that doesn't work, write to hello@teleporthq.io.
"Projects limit reached" None of your workspaces has room: "All your existing workspaces have reached the projects limit." Closing this window, with Upgrade or Maybe later, also ends the offer to save the guest project. If your workspaces are full, make room before you sign in from the browser where you built the project: sign in from another browser, then delete a project or upgrade a workspace.
"There was a problem saving the project to your account" The project couldn't be moved. Refresh the dashboard. If the window doesn't come back, write to hello@teleporthq.io. See How to get help.
Good to know
- If you click Cancel, TeleportHQ stops offering to save the guest project.
- Guest projects are Public. Anyone with the link can view them until you save the project and change its privacy.
- Signing out in the browser also removes the offer to save a guest project.
