What are AI tokens, and how many do I get?
AI tokens are the credits TeleportHQ uses to pay for AI features, such as generating a website, a page, a section or an image, and chatting with the AI Assistant. Each workspace has one token balance, shared by all its projects and members. A trial gets 30,000 tokens once. Pro resets to 100,000 tokens every 30 days, and Premium to 150,000. Tokens you buy or earn never expire.

Monthly AI tokens reset; they don't add up
Your plan's monthly tokens reset every 30 days. On Pro, your monthly tokens go back to a fresh 100,000, whatever you had left. Unused monthly tokens don't carry over, and waiting doesn't build up a bigger amount. The 25,000 trial bonus is part of the first month, so it resets too.
The Purchase Tokens window says it like this: "every 30 days your workspace resets to a fresh 100,000 tokens. This is a monthly limit, not a balance that adds up." (On Premium it names 150,000.)
Tokens you buy or earn never expire
TeleportHQ keeps three kinds of tokens in your workspace:
- Time-limited tokens: occasional grants with an end date. Workspace Settings → General shows them as Expiring:, with the days left.
- Monthly tokens: your plan's allowance, reset every 30 days.
- Purchased and earned tokens: token packs you buy and rewards (from Quests, the AI feedback survey or referrals). These never expire and carry over forever.
When you use AI, TeleportHQ spends them in that order: time-limited first, then monthly, then purchased and earned. So your purchased tokens are kept for when the monthly ones run out.
Where to see your AI token balance in TeleportHQ
- Dashboard: next to your workspace name, a button shows N tokens remaining. It turns orange when you have none left.
- Editor: the floating toolbar at the bottom of the canvas shows N tokens, and turns orange at 0. The project name menu (top center) shows Available tokens, with Purchase tokens below it.
- AI windows: the AI website builder, Create Page Using AI and Create Section Using AI show N tokens remaining.
- Workspace Settings → General → AI tokens: shows tokens available, your Monthly bonus refill: (for example 100,000 tokens) and any Expiring: tokens, with a Purchase Tokens button.
Click any of these counters to open Purchase Tokens. Large numbers are shortened, for example 100k or 1.2M.
Good to know
- Your balance can dip while AI is working. TeleportHQ holds back some tokens when an AI task starts, then gives back what wasn't used.
- A failed AI run is charged for the AI work it already did. A run that fails before the AI starts working costs nothing. An AI Assistant reply that changed nothing, or that you stopped, is also charged for the work it already did.
- Upgrading to Premium brings your monthly tokens up to the new amount straight away. Switching between monthly and yearly billing doesn't; the new amount arrives at the next reset.
- When a trial or subscription ends, the monthly refills stop and the workspace is locked. Purchased tokens stay in the workspace for when you subscribe again.
- Tokens belong to a workspace. They can't be moved to another workspace.
- In a few countries, a new workspace without a subscription doesn't get the free trial tokens.
