How to delete a project

How to delete a project

To delete a project in TeleportHQ, go to your dashboard, open the ⋯ menu on the project's card and click Delete. Tick the box "I understand this will permanently delete" and click Delete project. TeleportHQ removes the project, takes its published site offline and frees its web address. A deleted project can't be restored.

Before you start

  • Deleting is permanent. There's no trash or undo, and you can't restore a deleted project from its backups. If you might need the project later, clone it first or, on a paid plan, download its code. See How to duplicate a project.
  • Who can delete: the workspace Owner and Admins, from any project card. A Designer can delete projects in folders they were added to, or any project while the workspace has no folders. Editors and Viewers don't get Delete. Owners and admins can also delete with Select: see How to move or delete several projects at once.
  • Expired workspaces: you can't delete projects while the workspace's trial or subscription has ended.
  • Archived projects can't be deleted from the dashboard. After a trial that ended without a subscription, TeleportHQ deletes them automatically about 30 days after archiving. A workspace whose paid subscription ended keeps them until they're restored. See What does "Archived" mean on my project?.

Steps

  1. On your TeleportHQ dashboard, find the project you want to delete.
  2. Hover the card and click its ⋯ menu.
  3. Click Delete. The Delete project window opens, for example: "This will permanently delete “Sunny Bakery”. This action cannot be undone."

If the project is a web app with a paid Web App slot

The Delete project window also says "This is a web app covered by a paid slot."

  1. Choose what happens to the slot:
    • To stop paying for it, tick Also cancel this paid slot at the end of the billing period — you keep it until then and won’t be charged again.
    • To keep the slot for another web app, leave the box unticked.
  2. Tick the confirmation box and click Delete project.
  3. If you kept the slot, TeleportHQ offers to assign it to another project that needs one.

Check that it worked

A message confirms that the project was deleted, and its card disappears from the dashboard. If the project was published, its TeleportHQ web address and custom domain stop working.

Troubleshooting

There's no Delete option in the menu Your role can't delete this project, or the project is archived. Editors and Viewers never get Delete, and a Designer only gets it in folders they were added to, or while the workspace has no folders. Ask the workspace owner or an admin to delete it.

"Could not remove project. Please try again." The project couldn't be deleted. If the workspace's trial or subscription has ended, deleting is blocked until the owner subscribes. Otherwise, wait a moment and try again.

How to move or delete several projects at once

On the TeleportHQ dashboard, workspace owners and admins click Select above the project cards, tick the projects they want, then click Move to Folder or Delete to act on all of them together.

What does "Archived" mean on my project, and how do I restore it?

An Archived badge on a TeleportHQ project means it's frozen because the workspace's trial or subscription ended or a web app had no Web App slot; the owner restores it by subscribing again (or giving the web app a slot), then republishes it, and only after a trial that ended without a subscription are archived projects deleted, about 30 days after archiving.

How to back up and restore your project

In the TeleportHQ editor, click Backups in the bottom toolbar, then Backup current project state to save a snapshot, or Restore next to a backup (such as Before Web App features Enabled) to bring the project back to that point; backups need a Pro or Premium plan, trial users ask support to restore, and you must republish afterwards.

How to duplicate a project (and reuse it like a template)

To duplicate a TeleportHQ project, open the ⋯ menu on its dashboard card and click Clone, or click the project name in the editor and choose Duplicate; the copy, named "Copy of" plus the original name, lands in the same workspace, unpublished, and you can reuse it like your own template.

How to buy, assign or cancel a web app slot

A TeleportHQ Web App slot keeps one web app online and running; buy one in Workspace Settings → Web Apps → Buy a slot (or Keep this project next to a web app that's running out of time), give an unused slot to a project with Assign to…, and stop paying with Cancel slot.

How many projects can I have?

A TeleportHQ trial workspace can hold 1 project, while Pro and Premium workspaces have unlimited projects; the limit is per workspace, archived projects count toward it, and an expired workspace can't create any.
