How to add a new page

How to add a new page

In TeleportHQ, you add a page from the Pages, Components & Tree View panel in the left sidebar: click + on the Pages folder, choose New Page → Blank Page, then type a name and press Enter. The new page opens on the canvas with your site's navigation at the top and its footer at the end, if your site has them. Its web address is made from its name: About us becomes /about-us.

Before you start

Steps

  1. In the left sidebar, click the layers icon (tooltip Pages, Components & Tree View). You can also press Ctrl+2 (Cmd+2 on a Mac). The panel opens with the title Explorer.
  2. On the Pages folder row, click +.
  3. In the menu, click New Page. A submenu opens.
  4. Click Blank Page. A page named Page appears in the list and opens on the canvas. Its name is already selected, so you can type over it.

  1. Type the page name, for example About us.
  2. Press Enter. The page is saved with that name.

You can also right-click the Pages folder (or click the … button on its row) and choose New Page → Blank Page. To add the page inside a sub-folder, open the same menu on that folder instead.

Other ways to add a page in TeleportHQ

  • Generate Page with AI: in the same New Page submenu, choose Generate Page with AI to describe the page and let AI build it. See How to generate a new page with AI.
  • Command palette: press Ctrl+P (Cmd+P on a Mac), type >, then choose Create new page. The page is always added to the main Pages folder, with your navigation and footer. See How to use the command palette.
  • Duplicate a page: to reuse a layout you already built, copy an existing page. See How to rename, duplicate or delete a page.
  • Planned pages: in a project built with the AI Website Builder, pages the AI planned but didn't build are listed under Planned — not built. Click Create on a row to build it. See How to build the rest of your planned pages later.
  • New CMS Page: this option only appears in older projects that are connected to an external CMS.

Check that it worked

A new TeleportHQ page shows up in the Pages list in the Explorer panel, and a tab with its name opens above the canvas. If a component in your project is marked as the site's navigation or footer, the new page already shows them, with room for your content in between. Anything you add to the page goes in before the footer. In a project without them, the canvas is empty.

The page's web address is / plus the name in lowercase with dashes, for example /about-us. You can change the address later in Page SEO Settings. See How to change a page's URL and create nested URLs.

Troubleshooting

"You reached the maximum number of pages allowed in a project." Your project has reached the page limit of its plan. On a trial, the limit is 200 pages. Delete pages you don't need, or subscribe to Pro or Premium, which have no page limit.

"Your current role does not have permission to create pages." Your role in this workspace or project can view but not add pages. Ask the project owner or an Admin to change your role. See What can each role do? (Admin, Designer, Editor, Viewer)

I can't see the + button or the New Page option The + on the Pages folder row only shows for roles that can create pages. On a sub-folder, + appears when you point at the folder row; you can also right-click the folder instead.

I clicked Generate Page with AI but got a blank page The Editor role can create pages but not components, so Generate Page with AI creates a blank page instead, without a message. Ask an Admin or Designer to generate the page, or build it by hand.

A link called "Page" appeared in my navigation or footer TeleportHQ asked AI to add a link to the new page, before you typed its name. See Why do my menu links change when I add or rename a page?

Good to know

  • Page templates are gone. Older guides mention a Use template or Use blank window. That window no longer opens. Start from a blank page, duplicate a page, or generate one with AI.
  • Names must be unique. A page can't share a name with another page, a component or a built-in folder (authentication, admin-panel, e-commerce, blog, help-center, bookings). If the name is taken, TeleportHQ adds a number, for example About1. Slashes (/) in a name are removed. To create an address like /services/cakes, set it in the page's URL field.
  • Menus can update themselves. If your project has a component marked as the navigation or footer, TeleportHQ asks AI to add a link to the new page in them. This uses AI tokens and needs at least 1,000 available. No link is added for a details page, a page that shows one item from your data. The first time you add a page in a project without such a component, a Navigation and Footer window explains the option. See Why do my menu links change when I add or rename a page?
  • Search titles may be filled for you. When you give a blank page a real name, TeleportHQ writes its search engine title and description with AI in the background, if they are empty. This uses a few AI tokens and is skipped when your workspace has 500 tokens or fewer. You can edit both in Page SEO Settings.
  • A "page not found" page is a normal page that you mark with Set as 404 Page. See How to create a custom 404 "page not found" page.
  • Members-only folders. A page you create inside a folder that requires sign-in also requires sign-in.

Why do my menu links change when I add or rename a page?

TeleportHQ keeps the links in your Navigation and Footer components in sync with your pages; it asks AI to add a link when you add a page, renames links when you rename a page and asks what happens to them when you delete one, and you switch adding off, or change the answer offered first on deletion, in Project settings → Editor → Preferences → Editing → Links.

In the TeleportHQ editor, right-click a page in the Pages list, click Set as Homepage and confirm in the window that says what changes; that page then opens at your site's main address (/), and its old address redirects there.
