How to generate a website with AI
To generate a website with AI in TeleportHQ, click + New Project on your dashboard, choose Presentation Website, then Generate with AI. You describe your business and choose a theme, an animation level, colors and fonts. The AI then plans every page your site needs, opens the editor and builds the most important pages first.
Before you start
- The TeleportHQ AI Website Builder uses AI tokens from your workspace. The setup shows your balance at the top right as {n} tokens remaining; click it to buy more. See What are AI tokens, and how many do I get?.
- A trial workspace can hold 1 project. If you already have one, a project limit window opens instead of the setup. See How many projects can I have?.
- If your trial or subscription has ended, you can't create new projects. See What happens when my trial or subscription ends?.
- This article covers websites. For an online store, a booking site, or a web app with logins, a database and workflows, start from the E-commerce, Bookings or Web App card instead, and read How to generate an online store or web app with AI. A booking site is a web app too. For a shorter first walk-through, see How to create your first website in TeleportHQ.
Steps
1. Start a new AI website
- On your TeleportHQ dashboard, click + New Project. The Create Project panel opens with five cards: E-commerce, Web App, Bookings, Presentation Website and Blank project.
- Click the Presentation Website card ("Presents your business — no accounts, store or bookings; code you can download").
- In the Presentation Website panel, click the Generate with AI card. TeleportHQ creates the project, opens it in the editor and starts the AI setup on Business description.
2. Describe your business
- In the text box, describe your business: what you offer, who your customers are and how the site should feel. For example:
I run a cozy organic coffee shop in Cluj. The site should feel warm and welcoming, show our menu and let customers pre-order online. - Check the language menu above the text box. It follows the language you write in: describe your business in German, for example, and the menu switches to German, so your site is built in German. To build the site in another language, open the menu and pick it yourself; your pick then stays.
- Click Next, or press Enter. To start a new line in the box, press Shift+Enter.
Other ways to fill the box:
- Click one of the examples under or start from one of the predefined descriptions below, then edit it.
- Click the microphone to dictate.
- Click Generate from URL or Upload Documents to write it from your current website or from your documents. See How to describe your business from a website link or a document.
To make sure a page is included, name it in the description, for example with a Menu page and a Catering page.
3. Choose your design preferences
- Wait while the screen shows Analyzing your business.... The AI reads your description and sets a design direction for the whole project.
- Under Theme Mode, click Light Only, Dark Only or Both Modes. Both Modes gives your site a light and a dark version, with a switch for visitors.
- Under Animation Level, click None, Low, Medium or High. The level the AI suggests is marked AI Selected; if you pick another one, it's marked User Selected.
- None: a still site. Nothing animates.
- Low: gentle fade-ins as you scroll and soft hover effects.
- Medium: content slides into place, and standout sections play out as you scroll.
- High: bolder motion throughout, and sections play out as you scroll wherever the content suits it.
- Under Page Layout, keep Standard (full-width pages with top navigation) for a regular website. Dashboard (sidebar navigation with a content area) is meant for apps and currently gives lower-quality results.
- Click Next.
4. Pick your colors and fonts
- On Colors & fonts, wait until the palettes and font pairings appear.
- Under Color Palettes, click the palette you like.
- Under Font Pairings, click the pair of fonts you like.
- Click Next.
Don't see your brand colors? Click Regenerate next to Color Palettes, type what you want, for example Use our brand colors #2f5d50 and #f4ede4, and click Regenerate in the box. New palettes replace the list. Fonts work the same way: click Regenerate next to Font Pairings and type, for example, Headings in Playfair Display, body text in Inter. TeleportHQ uses Google Fonts.
5. Let the AI plan and start building
For a website, the TeleportHQ AI setup goes straight from Colors & fonts to planning. (Web apps and stores are asked A few fast questions first.)
- On the Designing your project screen, wait. There's nothing to click. A checklist shows each stage, from Understanding your business to Preparing your workspace.
- When the plan is ready, the screen says how many pages were planned and how many are being built now, for example "We planned 9 pages for your project and are building 4 of them now."
- The editor opens on its own, and your pages start generating.
Check that it worked
In the TeleportHQ editor, a small Generating panel at the top right shows the build on one line, for example Generating (4) · 2 queued. Click it to see each page's progress bar, its current step and an Open button. The navigation, footer and logo are made first, then the pages. You can edit a page once it finishes. When all pages are done, TeleportHQ emails the person who started the generation. For details, read What happens while AI builds your site (and if it fails).
Pages that the AI planned but hasn't built yet show in the Pages list under Planned — not built, each with a Create button. See How to build the rest of your planned pages later.
Troubleshooting
"You need more tokens to continue with this operation. Please purchase more tokens." Your workspace doesn't have enough AI tokens for the next step, and the Purchase Tokens window opens. Buy a token pack, then continue from the same step. See What happens when I run out of AI tokens?.
"Your token balance does not cover this generation. You need about {X} more tokens. Add more tokens and try again." Building the first pages needs more tokens than your balance. Add tokens, then click Try again.
"We hit a problem" with "We could not plan your pages. Please try again." Click Try again. The step runs again with the choices you already made.
"We hit a problem preparing your design system." or "Your design system is taking longer than expected." TeleportHQ retries on its own and shows Attempt {n} of 3. Click Retry now to skip the wait. If every attempt fails, the screen says "We could not prepare your design system. Please try again."; click Try again.
"Preparing your workspace took too long. Please try again — your plan is saved." Click Try again. Your page plan is kept.
The Next button is greyed out on the Business step The description box is empty. Type at least a short description of your business.
"Leave now?" when I click Back to dashboard Leaving while the project is being planned stops the planning, and it starts over when you come back. Click Stay to let it finish, or Leave.
I left the setup before it finished Your choices are saved. Open the project from your dashboard, and the setup continues from the step you were on.
Good to know
- The AI decides which pages your site needs; you can't pick them from a list before the build. After the build, you can add, delete or regenerate pages in the editor.
- How many pages are built right away depends on your plan: 1 page on a trial, and up to 4 on Pro or Premium. If your token balance is low, fewer pages are built. The rest stay planned, and they cost nothing until you click Create.
- If you rebuild an existing website of several pages, Pro and Premium build at least 3 of its pages right away (all of them if it has fewer), when your token balance allows.
- A description can be up to 50,000 characters long.
- Both Modes is available on a trial and on paid plans.
- If a page fails to generate, you're charged for the AI work that already ran for it. A page that fails before the AI starts working costs nothing. See What happens while AI builds your site.
- TeleportHQ picks the AI model for each task. You can't choose the model.
- To change the business description later, open Project settings → AI → Project brief. See How to give the AI your business details and instructions.
- A website doesn't need a Web App slot. To learn whether you can download its code, see Can I download my site's code?.
