What can the TeleportHQ AI Assistant do?

What can the TeleportHQ AI Assistant do?

The TeleportHQ AI Assistant is a chat inside the editor that works on your project for you. You ask in plain words, and it can change anything on your pages, add animations, scroll stories and page transitions, generate pages, components, images and scroll videos, manage your database, online store and bookings, set up SEO and project settings, build workflows (in web apps), publish your site and answer "how do I…" questions from this help center. It uses AI tokens, and it asks before risky changes.

Where to find the AI Assistant

In the TeleportHQ editor, click the AI Assistant button above the top right of the canvas. The chat opens on the right side, in place of the style panel. To close it, click Back To Dev Mode or the ×, or press Esc while typing. For a full walkthrough, see How to edit your website by chatting with the AI Assistant.

The TeleportHQ AI Assistant open on the right of the editor with an empty chat, its parts numbered 1 to 4

The TeleportHQ AI Assistant panel has four parts:

  1. The chat name. Click it to open your chat history.
  2. Settings: your custom instructions, the chat's memory, and what the assistant may do without asking.
  3. New: start a new chat.
  4. The message box, where you type your request.

The AI Assistant is available on every plan (trial, Pro and Premium). You need permission to edit the project; it's hidden on read-only projects.

What the AI Assistant can do

The TeleportHQ AI Assistant picks the right action for your request by itself. Here is everything it can do.

Change what's on your pages

  • Change text, colors, fonts, sizes, spacing and layout of any element.
  • Format part of a text: make a word bold, italic, underlined, colored or a link.
  • Add, move or remove elements and sections.
  • Fix how the page looks on mobile and tablet.
  • Connect elements to your data, and show or hide elements based on conditions. Showing and hiding elements, tabs, pop-ups and other widgets that run in the visitor's browser work on websites too: the AI Assistant adds them without asking for a web app.
  • Add small embed scripts, for example a review badge from another service.
  • Recreate a layout from a screenshot you attach. See How to create a layout from a screenshot or image.

Page edits start without asking by default. One request is one Undo step.

Add animations, scroll stories and page transitions

These work on websites and web apps alike.

  • Add hover effects and Motion animations, for example a section that fades in as it scrolls into view. See How to create advanced animations with the Motion element.
  • Make a row of logos, quotes or cards slide sideways by itself, in an endless loop.
  • Set how your site moves from one page to the next (the page transition), its speed, and which pages skip it.
  • Turn a section into a scroll story, or add a ready-made story from Sections → Stories.
  • Add chapters to a scroll story, time when each part arrives, reveal a text word by word, make numbers count up, and change the story's length or how it settles on each chapter.

Generate new pages, components, images and videos

  • Build a new page or a new reusable component from scratch, matching your design system. It asks first (Confirm page generation or Confirm component generation) unless you allow generations automatically. A page or component generation can't be stopped once it starts.
  • Create an original image with AI (square, landscape or portrait, in low, medium or high quality). It asks first (Confirm image generation).
  • Make a scroll video for a scroll story (a clip that plays as the visitor scrolls), or make an existing clip longer. It asks first (Confirm scroll video or Confirm clip extension) and shows about how many tokens it costs.
  • On the image and scroll video cards, you can edit the prompt before you click Generate.
  • Save an image you attached to the chat into your project's assets, and place it on the page.
  • Find free stock photos, icons and videos for your page.

Manage pages and components

  • Create blank pages and components, rename pages, and place a component on a page.
  • Delete a page or component. It asks first (Confirm deletion), and you can undo it afterwards.

Work with your data

  • Create a database, tables and columns, and add records.
  • Update or delete records. It asks first (Confirm database change).
  • Delete a whole table. It always asks first (Confirm permanent deletion), even if you allow other data changes automatically.
  • Connect a public REST API as a data source. It refuses addresses that contain passwords or keys. See How to connect a REST API.
  • In web apps, also create blog posts and products, update products and their options, and add tables to the admin panel.

Run your online store (stores only)

  • List your orders and subscriptions, and say which orders can still be refunded.
  • Refund, cancel or mark an order as paid, and cancel, pause or resume a subscription. Each one always asks first, and none of them can be undone: they go through your payment provider, and refunds and cancellations email the buyer. See How to refund an order.
  • Change store settings, such as guest checkout, delivery, pickup and reviews.
  • Set up the shop page's filters and views, and create a product's own page.
  • Change the store's emails (order notifications, low-stock alerts and abandoned-cart reminders) and its invoices. The store and Bookings share one invoice set-up.

Take bookings (web apps only)

  • Turn on Bookings, with your own first items and rules when you name them.
  • Add, change, hide or delete bookable items, or write a whole item, with photos, from your description. Deleting an item asks first (Confirm action).
  • Set the booking rules (approving each booking, payment, cancellation, notice, check-in and check-out times, reminders and alerts), the opening hours and the closed dates.
  • Set up the booking page's filters, category tabs, search, sort and layout, and rebuild the booking pages when they have an older design.
  • Answer questions such as "who is booked tomorrow?", and keep a private note on a booking.
  • Accept, decline or cancel a booking, mark it attended or a no-show, refund a booking paid online, and switch Bookings off when you ask. Each one always asks first (Confirm action). A booking's new status reaches its customer and a refund moves money, so they can't be undone; switching Bookings off keeps your items, bookings and settings.

Set up your blog (web apps only)

  • Change the blog's settings: the share buttons, author box and other parts of every post page, the links beside headings, tag pages, the RSS feed and comments.
  • Set up the blog's listing page: the category filter and tabs, search, sort, the card layout, posts per page and how more posts load. The Help Center's listing page isn't covered; change it in its own Listing Page Settings.

Set up SEO and project settings

  • Write page titles and descriptions, change page URLs, and set or generate a social sharing image.
  • Set the home page, the 404 page and details pages.
  • Give links and buttons accessible names for screen readers, and find links that are missing them.
  • Change your design system (colors, fonts, spacing). It asks first (Confirm design change).
  • Check your project's health, for example missing SEO or unused assets.

Add web app features (web apps only)

  • Turn on user accounts and login, e-commerce, a blog and bookings. It also turns on extra languages, which work on websites too.
  • Make a page visible only to logged-in members.
  • Set up email, SMS, payment, AI and other service providers. It opens a form where you type your own keys. The AI Assistant doesn't fill them in for you.
  • Build new workflows (for example, what happens when a form is submitted or a button is clicked), change existing ones, and explain what a workflow does. Before it changes a reusable workflow step that several workflows use, it asks first (Confirm shared workflow change).

On a website, the AI Assistant can offer to turn your project into a web app. It shows the same Enable Web App features? window as the editor, and you decide. When you ask for a web app feature by name, for example "enable authentication", TeleportHQ treats your request as confirmation and doesn't show the window. Code download is no longer available afterwards. To undo it, restore the backup Before Web App features Enabled (TeleportHQ saves it when you confirm the window), or ask support to restore your project. See What's the difference between a website and a web app?.

Publish your site

  • Publish your project. It asks first (Confirm publish) unless you allow it automatically. It can't publish while pages are still generating.

Answer questions and guide you around the editor

  • Answer "how do I…" questions about TeleportHQ from this help center, with a link to the article. See How to ask the AI Assistant how to do something.
  • Search the web for up-to-date facts, such as a third-party service's settings.
  • Take you somewhere in the editor: open a panel, a database table or a workflow, go to a page, select an element, show a hidden element for a moment, switch screen size or language, open page settings, turn preview on or off, or open the window for buying AI tokens. This changes nothing in your project.
  • Read your forms, products, integrations and provider settings to answer questions about them.
  • Ask you a question with answer options when your request is unclear.
  • Open the Tailor this project window on a project you started from a template.
  • Open the upgrade window, on workspaces without a subscription.

What the AI Assistant can't do

  • Open a link you paste. It can't visit a web page address. It only searches the web and this help center. To reuse a website's text, use Generate from URL when you generate a website with AI.
  • Undo database changes, store actions or booking actions. Records and tables it adds, changes or deletes stay changed. Refunds, cancellations, subscription changes and a booking's new status can't be taken back.
  • Stop a page or component generation once it has started. Other work can be stopped with Stop generation.
  • Build workflows or turn on login, e-commerce, a blog or bookings on a website. These need a web app.
  • Insert a section from the Sections library. It builds new sections itself instead. The one exception is the ready-made scroll stories in Sections → Stories.
  • Turn on or write the Help Center. Use Plugins → Help Center in the left sidebar.
  • Type in your passwords or API keys. You enter keys yourself in the form it opens.
  • Choose which AI model it uses. TeleportHQ picks the model.
  • Change your plan, billing, workspace members or other projects. It works inside the open project only.
  • Share chats. Your chats are private to you in each project. Collaborators don't see them.
  • Manage marketing contacts and campaigns. The Marketing Studio has its own assistant. See How to use the Marketing Assistant.
  • Answer your site's visitors. The AI Assistant is for you, in the editor. For a chatbot on your published web app, see How to add an AI chatbot to your web app.

When a chat gets too long, sending pauses until you choose what the AI should remember. See Why does the AI Assistant say the chat is too long?.

What it costs

Every TeleportHQ AI Assistant message uses AI tokens from your workspace. The cost depends on what the AI does: a short text change costs little, and generating a page or a scroll video costs much more. Longer chats cost more per message, so start a new chat for each task. You pay for the AI work a request actually did; if a request fails before the AI starts working, nothing is charged. Token allowances are explained in What are AI tokens, and how many do I get?.

If you run out, the chat shows "Not enough tokens to perform operation."

Control what it does without asking

By default, the TeleportHQ AI Assistant edits pages without asking, and asks before it generates, deletes, changes data or the design system, publishes, or acts on an order or a booking. You can change this in the chat's Settings, or in Project settings → AI → Assistant. See How to choose what the AI Assistant may do without asking.

How to edit your website by chatting with the AI Assistant

In the TeleportHQ editor, click AI Assistant above the canvas, select the element you want to change, type what you want in plain words and press Enter, and the assistant applies the change to your page.

How to point the AI Assistant at a specific element or page

To point the TeleportHQ AI Assistant at something, select that element on the canvas while the chat is open, and it is added as a chip above the message box, so your request applies to that element; with nothing selected, the assistant works with the whole visible page.

How to choose what the AI Assistant may do without asking

In the TeleportHQ AI Assistant, click Settings and use the Automation switches (Apply edits, Auto-allow data ops, Auto-allow project ops, Auto-allow generations) and the Pause after setting to decide which actions run on their own and which show a confirmation card first; database changes the assistant plans together are confirmed on one card, and so are its deletions, design changes, publishing and refunds; the same switches are in Project settings → AI → Assistant.

How to undo changes made by the AI Assistant

In TeleportHQ, undo an AI Assistant request with the Undo button above the canvas or Ctrl/Cmd+Z (one request is one Undo step), restore bigger changes from a project backup, and roll back a publish from your deployments; database changes, store refunds or cancellations, and booking actions or refunds made by AI can't be undone.

Why does the AI Assistant say the chat is too long?

The TeleportHQ AI Assistant pauses sending with "Context limit reached" when a chat uses up its memory limit (Max context); to continue, pick a later message with Start from and Set start, click Summarize into a new chat, raise Max context, or start a new chat.

How to ask the AI Assistant how to do something

Ask the TeleportHQ AI Assistant a how-to question in the editor chat, for example "How do I connect a custom domain?", and it searches the TeleportHQ help center and answers with the address of the article it used.
