TeleportHQ compared with Webflow
Webflow is a visual website builder aimed at designers, with a content manager and hosting. In TeleportHQ, AI builds the site from a description of your business, you edit it visually or by chatting with the AI Assistant, and a store, bookings, user accounts, an admin panel and a help center are switched on in the same project. This guide compares the two fairly, so you can decide which fits your project.
Who this guide is for
- You're choosing between TeleportHQ and Webflow for a new site.
- You have a Webflow site and want to know what moving to TeleportHQ changes, and what you can bring along.
The short answer
If you want to design every page by hand in an editor built for designers, Webflow is made for that way of working. If you want AI to build a working site first and then adjust it, and want a store, bookings, sign-in and an admin panel that run without adding other tools, TeleportHQ fits better: it also hosts and runs those live features and gives you the tools to measure and grow the site from the same project. On a paid plan a website's code is yours to download; a web app's (a project with a store, bookings, sign-in, a blog or a help center) is not. Designers still get saved colours and text styles, CSS classes, components and hand-written CSS in TeleportHQ.
TeleportHQ and Webflow side by side
The Webflow column describes how a visual website builder usually works, not a feature list. Check Webflow's own site for what it includes today.
| What you decide on | TeleportHQ | Webflow, a visual website builder |
|---|---|---|
| How the site is built | AI builds it from your business description (AI Website Builder), or you start from a template or a Figma design. | You design pages by hand in a visual editor, from a template or a blank canvas. |
| Editing | A visual editor with a Design Language, CSS classes and an Advanced tab for CSS, or the AI Assistant. | A visual editor with a designer's level of control over layout and styling. |
| Hosting | By TeleportHQ, with a staging address and your own domain. | By the builder, on its address or your own domain. |
| Storage and data | Included with the plan: the project's files (pictures, videos, documents), the built-in database with up to 200,000 records per table on a paid plan, the data each web app keeps, and monthly bandwidth; nothing to buy or connect separately (the limits per plan). | Webflow hosts the site; file storage, CMS items and bandwidth come in tiers of the site plan you pick. |
| Store, bookings, accounts | Built in: online store, Bookings, sign-up and login and an admin panel. | The builder's own add-on features, plus third-party widgets or integrations. |
| Languages | Built in, with automatic translation. | The builder's own localisation feature, or a third-party service. |
| SEO | Titles, descriptions, sitemap and redirects (how SEO works). | Page titles, descriptions and sitemaps are standard in visual builders. |
| After it's live | Analytics, a site health audit, keyword ideas and a competitor benchmark, campaigns and newsletters, and sales or booking reports, all under Growth in the editor. | The builder's own visitor statistics, with add-ons or outside services for campaigns and newsletters. |
| What you can take with you | On a paid plan, a website's code as HTML, React, Next.js, Vue, Nuxt or Angular, or an export to GitHub (code download). Websites only: switching on sign-in, a store, bookings, a blog or a help center makes the project a web app; the editor warns first ("Code download will no longer be available"), there is no switch back, and a web app's code can't be downloaded, so it runs on TeleportHQ hosting from then on. | Varies by builder: often the site's HTML and CSS, with content as data files. |
| Who does the technical work | You build; TeleportHQ hosts the site and runs its live features (websites vs web apps), with support a chat away. | You, or a designer who knows the builder; the builder hosts the site. |
What carries over if you switch from Webflow
- Your live site, page by page. Generate from URL, on the first step of the AI Website Builder, is the way to move a site that's online: it reads your sitemap, copies the text of up to 12 pages and rebuilds them with the same wording in a new design. Images aren't copied.
- Your design, if it's in Figma: the TeleportHQ Figma plugin opens it as a new project.
- Your HTML and CSS, if you can export them: paste a page into the HTML Import window, or import the whole site as a ZIP.
- Your pictures: upload them in the Assets Manager.
- Your blog posts and products, from a CSV or JSON file: import posts and import products.
What's different day to day
- You start from a built site, not a blank canvas, and change what you don't like by hand or ask the AI Assistant in plain words.
- Features are switches, not integrations, in the Plugins tab, with their pages, data and emails wired when you switch them on.
- Changes go live when you publish, after a test on the staging address.
- Your numbers are in the same place as your site: Growth in the left sidebar shows who visits, next to the audits, the reports and the Marketing Studio.
- AI features use AI tokens; editing by hand uses none.
